Togepi’s evolved form, Togetic, is a petite bipedal Pokémon of short stature.
Compared to before, the eggshell it wore as a Togepi had disappeared, and its body had changed from bright yellow to white. However, it still bore the red and blue triangular markings on its body.
Apart from that, its most notable change was the pair of wings it had grown, making it look like an angel.
According to legend, Togetic constantly keeps an eye out for people with pure hearts. It approaches them and showers them with happiness and warmth, something known as “Joy Dust.” It is said that Togetic flies all over the world in search of kind-hearted people in order to share happiness. If it is not around good people, Togetic becomes dispirited and loses energy….
However, after Terrance’s Togepi evolved, none of these habits common to most Togepi appeared. Its style was completely different.
As the light of evolution faded, Terrance immediately saw a Togetic with a gloomy expression and an unfriendly aura.
Togetic was very unhappy at the moment. The bloodthirsty aura radiating from Mawile made it feel stifled and placed at a disadvantage, and that was the root of its bad mood. Meanwhile, Frogadier had already begun clashing with Mawile. Although it had evolved, Frogadier was still at a disadvantage and was being suppressed by Mawile.
Even after evolving, its strength was still lacking. While evolution had granted it power immediately, its body could not adapt to it in such a short time, preventing Frogadier from fully utilizing all of its previous accumulation.
The best way to adapt was through battle, and that was exactly Terrance’s plan. As Togetic joined the fight, Frogadier and the others’ advantage began to show. Togetic had gained the ability to fly and had also learned Fairy Wind, making it far less passive against the airborne Mawile.
Faced with the combined assault of the strengthened Togetic and Frogadier, Mawile’s expression did not change in the slightest. Under immense pressure, it suddenly shifted from offense to defense, stirring up electromagnetic energy and forcefully enduring the attacks of both Pokémon.
Togetic wielded flames while Frogadier struck like a shadow with deadly attacks, yet Mawile successfully withstood them all!
At the same time, its two mouths began devouring the flames. Mawile seemed to be using the fire to temper its steel body. The impact from Frogadier’s sneak attacks was also blocked by its Iron Defense, the force being dispersed throughout its entire body. After enduring the tremendous impact, something unbelievable happened. Mawile’s body suddenly shrank by a full circle, and thick black smoke burst forth from it.
“What is that?”
“I don’t know, but it’s probably a body transformation caused by the combination of Power-Up Punch and certain other moves. This Mawile is incredible. Not only is it the strongest on the seventeenth floor, but even throughout the entire Super-ancient Pyramid, I’ve never seen a single Pokémon stronger than it. Even the Dragon-type Pokémon in Dragon Valley can’t compare.”
Watching Mawile transform the fluctuations of the magnetic field into an even denser killing intent, Terrance nodded in satisfaction.
At this moment, Mawile had already stepped into the top tier. For a wild Pokémon to reach this level, both talent and opportunity were indispensable. This Mawile’s opportunity might have been this land of chaotic magnetic field, but Terrance had yet to fully discern the extent of its talent. Of course, aside from talent and opportunity, without the countless life-and-death battles it had fought on the seventeenth floor, there was no way it could have gained such strength out of thin air.
“If they still lose after evolving, it might be quite a blow to Togetic and Frogadier.”
“But evolution doesn’t necessarily mean they can turn the situation around. Losing isn’t necessarily a bad thing either.”
Togetic and Frogadier still had untapped potential. Their true explosive growth in strength would come after their final evolutions. In comparison, this Mawile’s peak might very well be what it was displaying right now.
In the sky, the cold-eyed Mawile continuously leaped through the air with the aid of the magnetic field, granting itself explosive bursts of power to unleash relentless combos. Togetic and Frogadier were instantly knocked away by the barrage, only to rebound back again. Throughout the process, Mawile’s assault never ceased, every strike vicious and merciless. If this continued, Togetic and Frogadier’s lives could be in danger.
Although Togetic and Frogadier possessed abundant battle experience, all of it had been accumulated under special circumstances. They knew their injuries would certainly be healed, knew that Terrance was backing them up, so they always held something in reserve during battle. Moreover, Terrance would never truly temper them on the brink of death. This Mawile, however, was different. Without fighting with its life on the line, it could never have accumulated such terrifying killing intent.
The destructive power produced by materializing that killing intent through the magnetic field was already no weaker than ordinary moves.
“This Mawile…” Jillian was not being intimidated by it for the first time. She asked herself honestly, even her ace would probably only end up defeated if it faced this Mawile right now.
“Is this really a wild Pokémon?!”
Just as Mawile was launching its frenzied assault, Terrance finally made his move. A powerful Confusion wave instantly enveloped Mawile, causing the bloodthirsty Pokémon to abruptly halt and sweep its surroundings in shock.
The moment Gardevoir’s Confusion wave descended, Mawile felt an overwhelming sense of danger. None of the Pokémon here had ever given it such a feeling. Its instincts told it… that if it acted rashly, it would be severely injured!
“Come back, Frogadier, Togetic. It’s alright, you’ll have another chance.” As Terrance recalled his two falling Pokémon, Mawile did not dare interfere. It remained on guard against that tyrannical psychic power.
The next moment, Terrance turned toward Mawile and praised it: “Among all the Pokémon I’ve encountered that haven’t been captured by Trainers, aside from Legendary Pokémon, your strength is the greatest. Are you interested in following me?”
“If you follow me, you’ll be able to climb even higher peaks.”
Terrance spoke with complete confidence, but the Mawile opposite him dismissed the offer with contempt. Terrance was not angered. This Mawile had every right to be proud. However, if it remained here forever, its talent would be wasted. Outside, there were heights it could never reach on its own!
“Go, Altaria!!”
Seeing Mawile’s attitude, Terrance stopped wasting words and acted decisively. In a flash of light, Altaria underwent self-Mega Evolution. At the same time, it drew upon the surrounding natural energy, its power erupting explosively. Under the suppression of Fairy Aura, Altaria launched a thunderous strike. The attack descended upon Mawile like the collapse of the heavens themselves.
At that very moment, the energy within Mawile was being suppressed, making it nearly impossible for it to move. It could only watch helplessly as the terrifying blow descended and smashed it into the ground.
With a single strike, the earth shattered, and the strongest Pokémon on the seventeenth floor of the Super-ancient Pyramid was instantly defeated.
Watching Altaria, normally responsible for healing, suddenly unleash such terrifying combat strength, Jillian shuddered violently, her heart filled with shock.
An Elite Four… was this terrifying…
“An interesting Mawile. Its personality may indeed be difficult to tame, but with this strength, it’s qualified to become a member of the Fairy Army!”
Before Mawile could react, Terrance had already thrown a Poké Ball. Not long afterward, the Poké Ball stopped shaking and, under Gardevoir’s Confusion, was delivered into Terrance’s hand.
