“Ninetales.”
Facing this Dragonite that could use Extreme Speed, Terrance immediately sent out Ninetales without hesitation.
“Ninetales~~”
The moment it appeared, Ninetales let out a long cry. It swiftly stepped forward, its nine snow-white tails swaying as it summoned the Snowy Weather.
Endless icy energy condensed into a lethal spear and shot fiercely toward Dragonite!
Even with one arm crippled, Dragonite gathered flames in its other arm. With a Fire Punch, it moved at astonishing speed to the side of the ice spear, grabbed it, and clenched its hand.
The ice spear rapidly melted under the flames. The merciless fire eroded the ice and snow, causing Ninetales to glare at Dragonite with hostility.
This was a blatant contempt.
In overall strength, Ninetales was naturally inferior to this Dragonite, but with its overwhelming advantage in type, it was not without a chance. In an instant, Aurora Veil descended, widening the distance between Ninetales and Dragonite, as if separating them by mountains and rivers.
“Hurricane!”
As Drake spoke, Dragonite cast aside the ice spear and merged its body into the suddenly formed Hurricane vortex. Fierce winds filled the sky, continuously battering the Aurora Veil, but this was not Drake’s main intention.
“Dragon Dance?”
Seeing how Dragonite controlled the Hurricane, Terrance found it somewhat familiar. It resembled the technique similar to Beautifly’s Wind Domain. Before Dragonite could successfully destroy the Aurora Veil, Terrance quickly gave the order:
“Condense Ice Moon.”
Within the Hurricane, fiery serpents occasionally burst out, gradually melting the Aurora Veil. By the time Ninetales had successfully formed Ice Moon, Dragonite had already broken through the Aurora Veil, blasted apart the Hurricane, and charged forward like a streak of light.
Under Extreme Speed, Dragonite’s speed was astonishing, and with its injured arm, it appeared even more ferocious, clearly not gentle-natured.
“Baby-Doll Eyes!”
The light reflected from the full moon spread at incredible speed, even faster than Extreme Speed. As the mental fluctuations of Baby-Doll Eyes swept past unrestrainedly, Dragonite immediately entered Outrage state to resist it, attempting to rely on rage to ignore the mental pressure.
“Impressive.” Seeing Dragonite successfully ignore Ninetales’ Baby-Doll Eyes, Terrance silently praised it. This use of Outrage was even more proficient than Arcanine’s. However… what came next was destined to be an unsolvable situation. Terrance had already anticipated that the opponent would use Outrage to resist Baby-Doll Eyes.
As the light refracted, dazzling brilliance scattered everywhere. Facing the dense Dazzling Gleam reflected by Ice Moon, Dragonite swayed left and right but still charged forward fiercely.
“It’s fake, Dragonite. Fall back!”
At this moment, Drake sensed something was wrong and immediately called out. The speed of the light was too slow. If Dragonite could dodge it so easily, the only possibility was that it was a feint. They had originally prepared to break through the light with Iron Head, but now, not only Drake, even Dragonite itself felt a looming danger.
A threat even greater than Dazzling Gleam…
The next moment—
Ice Moon erupted. There was no Fairy energy released at all; it was purely an illusion created by Confuse Ray. When Ice Moon exploded, it triggered all the Snowy Weather energy, transforming it into the move “Sheer Cold,” surging forward like a roaring blizzard.
At such close range, no matter how fast Dragonite was, it couldn’t evade this terrifying attack and was instantly swallowed by it.
“This Ninetales can use illusion techniques too? Although it’s a bit more immature compared to that Mismagius, it’s more than enough to deceive a Dragonite in Outrage state,” Phoebe remarked in surprise.
Once Dragonite entered Outrage fueled by rage, it inevitably lost its ability to judge the situation. From that point on, it would rely heavily on its Trainer’s commands. This was the key to Terrance’s plan to decide the battle with illusion skill. Baby-Doll Eyes and Confuse Ray provided two layers of preparation, two different fallback options. As expected, it successfully led to Dragonite’s defeat.
By the time Dragonite reacted to its Trainer’s command, it was already too late.
“You did well, Dragonite.” After a moment of silence, Drake sent out his third Pokémon. A massive creature appeared on the battlefield, its size even surpassed that of Arcanine.
“Roar!!” With a gray body, crimson eyes, and a ferocious demeanor, its nail-like tail slammed against the ground, instantly stirring up a massive sandstorm that dispersed the remaining hail.
“Elite Four Drake actually sent out Steelix.”
Someone exclaimed in surprise: “It’s said this Steelix has excellent Dragon-type bloodline, but in reality, its mastery over Rock, Ground, and Steel type is also extremely high. Its strength is formidable.”
As Drake’s third Pokémon, Steelix took the field, instantly occupying a large portion of the battlefield. Seeing its new opponent, Ninetales flicked its tails and once again summoned hail to counter it.
“Don’t force it,” Terrance ordered. “Use Hypnosis.”
Hypnosis, infused with the waves of Baby-Doll Eyes, carried immense mental pressure. However, before Ninetales could even make a move, Steelix instantly closed its eyes and burrowed into the ground!
Using Dig in this kind of matchup either meant courting death or having absolute confidence, and Drake was clearly the latter. As soon as Steelix dug underground, Terrance immediately ordered Ninetales to cover the battlefield with ice, freezing the entire ground. But as an Iron Tail swept out, it pierced straight through, creating a massive hole. Even the hardened ice layer failed to stop Steelix’s assault in the slightest.
“Heavy Slam!” Steelix charged forward. The speed of digging was incredibly fast. Despite its enormous size, neither Ninetales nor Terrance could sense its movements. Faced with such a strange digging method, Terrance was puzzled, but when he noticed that Steelix’s body wasn’t stained with any dirt, he was startled.
“Blizzard!”
The spinning body crashed down violently, crushing through the Blizzard and sending Ninetales flying, knocking it unconscious.
“Using the rotational force of Gyro Ball to Dig… Drake’s Steelix is truly something special…”
“A Steel type, huh…” After the referee announced the result, Terrance recalled Ninetales and comforted it before quickly throwing out Gallade’s Poké Ball.
“So you’re bringing out Gallade already…” Drake smiled slightly, not attacking and giving Terrance time to Mega Evolve.
Terrance didn’t hesitate. He pulled out the Key Stone and Mega Evolved Gallade.
As a white cape appeared behind Gallade and its white blade was tinged with a red glow, it instantly became a blur and appeared above Steelix!
But what awaited Gallade… was Steelix’s rapidly spinning body, and the earth-shaking roar prepared for its arrival—
Roar!!
The flame gathered on Gallade’s blade was stripped away by the rotational force in an instant. Steelix showed a pained expression, yet still endured the attack with its terrifying physical defense before unleashing a thunderous roar.
The overwhelming pressure surged forward, nearly forcing Gallade to retreat back into its Poké Ball. However, relying on sheer willpower, Mega Gallade barely resisted, but this forced resistance caused it to miss the best opportunity to escape using Teleport.
In the next instant, the power of Steelix’s Explosion swept across the entire battlefield, shaking the protective barrier and engulfing Mega Gallade completely.
First, Terrance used a clever tactic to defeat Dragonite, then Drake devised a plan for Steelix to trade injuries for injuries to severely injure Gallade. Neither side gave an inch as they traded blows back and forth.
Engulfed by Explosion, even though Gallade tried to defend through offense, it was still heavily wounded by the blast, leaving it in a critical condition.
