PC Chapter 1041 Clash of Red and Blue, End

“I understand now. Groudon wants to obtain the Red Orb and thereby gain the power of Primal Reversion, while Kyogre wants the Blue Orb. If this continues, those of us who have fused with the orbs could both die.” Through his glasses, Maxie saw the glow in his own eyes caused by the orb and muttered to himself, “Impossible. According to numerous ancient records, the orbs unquestionably possess the power to control the Super-ancient Pokémon. Could it be that my mental power is too weak, making me unable to influence Groudon?”

Maxie was unwilling to accept this, and Archie was equally unwilling.

The two began recalling their experiences since childhood. Maxie had lived on an ordinary island. Because Water-type Pokémon fought over territory, enormous waves flooded the entire island. After becoming the sole survivor, Maxie came to hope that Groudon’s power could dry up the seawater and expand the land, increasing the space available for land-dwelling creatures.

Archie had grown up in a land plagued by severe drought, where his hometown suffered famine year-round. Growing up in such an environment, Archie’s heart was ultimately saved by Water-type Pokémon. His hometown had been rescued by Water-type Pokémon, and its people had survived thanks to their power. After leaving his hometown, Archie sought to borrow Kyogre’s power to bring torrential rain to the land and expand the ocean, the source of all life.

As they recalled their original aspirations and everything they had sacrificed for their ideals, their mental power gradually strengthened amid the shouts of their subordinates. With furious roars from the two, the orbs fused with them suddenly changed the way they operated and were forcibly brought under their control. At the same time, Groudon and Kyogre both stopped moving and began resisting the immense power attempting to control them.

In the next moment, under the clash of four different powers, the energy suddenly ran rampant once more. Archie and Maxie’s minds influenced Kyogre and Groudon, gradually causing them to lose their reason. After being affected by the opposing orbs and mental power, the two Super-ancient Pokémon, while pursuing natural energy, also began reinforcing the ideals of Archie and Maxie within their minds. In turn, under the influence of the Super-ancient Pokémon, Archie and Maxie immediately coughed up blood. Their brains seemed to suffer a devastating blow, and their eyes gradually became vacant.

“Expand the land!”

“Expand the ocean!”

Driven by Maxie and Archie’s final convictions, Groudon and Kyogre unleashed their full might in order to realize their respective ideals. Heaven and earth transformed in an instant, and Monsu Island was swallowed at once by surging magma and crashing waves. Had the Team Aqua and Team Magma members on the island not evacuated in time, they probably would have sunk along with it.

By now, no one knew where Maxie and Archie had been swept away by the overwhelming power. Perhaps they had sunk with the island, or perhaps their subordinates had rescued them. However, the orbs within their bodies had been forcibly expelled, breaking apart into natural energy and beginning to return to nature. Yet Groudon and Kyogre’s battle did not stop there and continued unabated. The influence that Maxie and Archie’s mental power, combined with the power of the orbs, had exerted on them did not disappear either.

As Groudon and Kyogre’s power began to steadily increase, signs appeared around the sunken Monsu Island that the disasters which had previously affected more than half of Hoenn were about to return. Lance could no longer remain calm.

They absolutely could not allow Groudon and Kyogre to continue fighting. Otherwise, they would unleash even greater power, and by then, the disasters in Hoenn would no longer be limited to some regions only.

“Hello, Mr. Lance, this is Terrance. Mr. Lance, can you hear me?”

“It’s me!” Whew… it finally connected. Lance let out a sigh of relief.

“What’s the situation over there? It’ll probably take me another three minutes to arrive.”

With a grave expression, Lance briefly explained the situation to Terrance. Keeping it concise, he quickly made Terrance understand what had happened.

“Even after the orbs shattered, Groudon and Kyogre still haven’t stopped fighting?”

“That’s right. I’m afraid Maxie and Archie influenced them through the power of the orbs, leaving the two Super-ancient Pokémon with lingering effects even now,” Lance said worriedly.

What could they use next to calm the rampaging two Super-ancient Pokémon?

Human power? How could that possibly work! Lance looked at the two Super-ancient Pokémon, whose power was steadily increasing. At any moment, they might return to their primal forms and regain the power capable of affecting all of Hoenn. At that point, even technological might and several Elite Four would find it difficult to stop them.

“I have a way.”

Zinnia of the Draconid people appeared at some unknown point. Disguised as a Team Aqua member, she had only managed to find an opportunity to slip away once the battle erupted.

“Who are you?” Lance immediately became wary as he looked at the Team Aqua member.

“Elite Four Terrance, I’m Zinnia. Can you hear me?”

“Zinnia?”

“Listen to me. Right now, the only one capable of calming Groudon and Kyogre is Rayquaza. I’ll immediately return to Sky Pillar and perform the ritual to summon Rayquaza. Whether it will succeed, I don’t know, but at present, I’m afraid this is the only option we have,” Zinnia said quickly.

Rayquaza…

Elite Four Terrance knew this Team Aqua girl?

“I’ll leave it to you. Until then, I’ll hold Groudon and Kyogre back!” Terrance said seriously.

“Judging from the area covered by Groudon and Kyogre’s battle… the direction they’re moving in is Sootopolis City. Their power will affect that city first. We can’t let them leave this stretch of sea, or the disaster will only grow worse. Elite Four Terrance, hurry. I’ll go stop them first.” Lance gritted his teeth. Although he currently had only Dragonite and Gyarados with him, he had no choice but to go!

Please…

The entire conversation between the three was simultaneously transmitted by Terrance to Hoenn’s Intelligence Department. At this moment, the entire Hoenn League had descended into chaos over how to resolve Groudon and Kyogre’s rampage. Disagreements were constant, and various plans were being proposed one after another.

Some suggested using weapons of war against the two rampaging Pokémon and severely injuring them.

Some suggested gathering powerful Trainers to stop them.

Others suggested waiting and observing, first evacuating nearby residents, mounting a defensive resistance, and waiting for the two Pokémon to regain their senses.

Aside from a small number of proposals, every plan was built upon enormous sacrifices and ample preparation time. Under such critical circumstances, Hoenn League Champion Steven and Devon Corporation took a firm stance, intending to try the plan described by the Team Aqua girl Zinnia during the conversation.

“Summon Rayquaza? Can that really be done?”

“Are you kidding? If it fails, who’s going to bear the losses?”

As sensors detected Groudon and Kyogre’s energy fluctuations growing stronger and stronger, possibly even continuing to rise to a level that would be difficult to suppress, the upper echelons of the Pokémon League, under mounting pressure, decided to carry out multiple plans simultaneously. Indigo League Champion Lance and Fairy Elite Four Terrance became the first wave of combat forces in the operation to stop Groudon and Kyogre.
