Archie and Maxie faced each other. Amid the thunderous roar of Pokémon moves, each could see the other’s ideals reflected in his eyes.
Team Aqua’s ideal was not to turn the world into nothing but ocean. Rather, they wanted to use Kyogre’s power, which symbolized origin, to return the world to a state that belonged to Pokémon. They believed humanity’s excessive development of nature had destroyed Pokémon’s living space, and that humans had to atone for it.
Team Magma’s ideal, on the other hand, was to create a world that belonged to humanity. They believed Pokémon should be tools for humans to use. To that end, they sought to use Groudon’s power, which symbolized the end, to expand the land and open up more living space for humanity.
This was also why Team Magma pursued the power of technology, while Team Aqua revered the power of Pokémon.
The clash before them was not merely a battle for the orbs, but also a conflict of ideals. Neither side had ever considered themselves villains. Both possessed beliefs and experiences that drove them to achieve their goals no matter what. It was precisely this unwavering determination that had supported the two organizations all the way to the present day.
“Archie!!”
Under the stimulation of Team Magma’s volcano system, Monsu Island’s dormant volcano had already become active. The power of the magma, combined with the volcano system, immediately strengthened the combat capabilities of the Team Magma forces that had forcibly landed on the island, allowing them to fight Team Aqua on equal footing.

At the sight of this, Maxie and Archie both stopped fighting, bewildered expressions appearing on their faces…
Lance, who had been hiding nearby, narrowed his eyes before shaking his head. This should have been the best opportunity to seize both orbs at once, but something about the current situation made him feel that something was wrong.

Off the coast of Monsu Island, an overwhelmingly powerful force erupted, and the roar of the ocean instantly resounded throughout the island.
At the same time, the volcano activated by the volcano system erupted with an even more terrifying might, magma surging forth as though it intended to destroy heaven and earth.
“This is bad! Groudon and Kyogre have awakened again!” Reports came simultaneously from Team Magma and Team Aqua, causing Maxie’s and Archie’s expressions to change repeatedly. Just as the two were considering whether to stop here, the Red Orb and Blue Orb suddenly switched positions and began flying toward them.
In the blink of an eye, the Red Orb directly fused with Archie, while the Blue Orb fused with Maxie. Ancient patterns began appearing across their bodies, and their conditions became visibly abnormal.

In response to their subordinates’ calls, the two waved their hands and struggled to resist the power. However, for some reason, their desire to control the two Super-ancient Pokémon and their conviction to change the world suddenly grew even stronger.

It was said that the Red Orb and Blue Orb contained the power to control Kyogre and Groudon, but prolonged contact with that power could affect one’s mind, reducing the person to a puppet of the power itself. It was extremely dangerous. This was also why the lineage of Mt. Pyre had sealed away the two orbs created by the Super-ancient civilization to control the Super-ancient Pokémon.

In truth, due to Team Rocket’s interference, the two Super-ancient Pokémon had awakened ahead of time and begun sensing the natural energy they had lost. The two Super-ancient Pokémon influenced the orbs, and the orbs in turn influenced Archie and Maxie, who harbored their own ambitions. Once Groudon and Kyogre went berserk again, their biological instincts drove them to pursue the natural energy that belonged to them.
At the same time, drawn by the power of the orbs, Archie and Maxie began walking toward the coast against their own will.
“Kyogre!!”

Kyogre was a whale-like Pokémon with two enormous pectoral fins, each fin tip bearing four white square-shaped structures. Its entire body was deep blue, while its lower jaw was white and had two white pointed protrusions. Above each of Kyogre’s eyes were two white oval markings. In addition, red lines covered Kyogre’s lower jaw, eyes, the backs of its fins, and its torso. When Kyogre was brimming with energy, these lines would glow.
Now, having digested the power it had absorbed when it first came into contact with the Blue Orb, Kyogre had gained power approaching its primordial state and had begun going mad in pursuit of its complete power, launching an attack on Monsu Island.
With a sweep of the four ribbon-like structures into which its tail was divided, it instantly triggered a tsunami powerful enough to destroy the entirety of Monsu Island!!
Seeing this, Maxie and Archie, despite their minds being affected, still screamed in terror.
During Kyogre’s rampage, countless Team Aqua members lost their lives, while James, who had infiltrated Team Aqua, had vanished without a trace.
Torrential rain poured down from the sky!
However, just as Monsu Island was on the verge of destruction, another immense force descended. It dispersed the dark clouds, converted the power of sunlight, and unleashed a gigantic beam of light that swept across the tsunami.
The Solar Beam, more than two meters in diameter, was like a weapon of destruction, scattering the enormous wave in an instant.
As Groudon roared, the blue spikes growing from the seams in its skin lit up. Clearly, it had no intention of allowing Kyogre to have its way. After dispersing the waves, Groudon began advancing toward Monsu Island in search of the power that belonged to it. Wherever Groudon moved, magma flowed, creating new land across the surface of the sea!
“Groudon/Kyogre! Listen to my orders!!!”
Facing the steadily approaching Super-ancient Pokémon, Archie and Maxie shouted frantically, but the two Super-ancient Pokémon remained completely unmoved.
“Such… such an awful feeling…” Clinging tightly to floating debris on the sea, James, Jessie, and Meowth desperately held onto their lifelines, gasping for breath with terrified expressions.
Equally terrified were Ash and the others, who had infiltrated Team Magma. If Lance’s red Gyarados had not rescued them, they probably would have been caught in the terrifying magma that erupted when Groudon awakened and sunk to the bottom of the sea.
However, thanks to Groudon and Kyogre’s rampage, most of Team Magma and Team Aqua’s technological facilities were destroyed, causing the existence of this location to be immediately detected by various Hoenn League organizations. This finally confirmed the information Fairy Elite Four Terrance had previously obtained.
Despite having fused with the corresponding orbs, they were unable to influence the Super-ancient Pokémon and were instead affected by their power. This enormous disparity finally began to make Maxie and Archie realize just how insignificant they were before the absolute power of Kyogre and Groudon.
