PC Chapter 1036 Blazing Sunlight and Floods Arise Together

The Mossdeep Space Center was Hoenn’s primary facility for rocket research. It had been built there because Mossdeep City normally enjoyed a mild climate, but this time, the source of the torrential rain descending from the sky was located near Mossdeep City itself. Under such weather, many of the Space Center’s instruments had malfunctioned, forcing research to halt and causing severe financial losses. Tate and Liza, the Gym Leaders of Mossdeep Gym, had already dispatched every Psychic-type Pokémon in the Gym in an attempt to combine their powers and alter the surrounding weather, but even they were powerless.

Inside the Mossdeep Space Center, Steven was observing the energy changes throughout the waters surrounding Mossdeep, his expression grave.

“This is the power of Primal Kyogre…”

Over the past century, the Hoenn League had encountered Groudon and Kyogre before. Although ordinary people knew nothing about it, it was hardly a secret to Devon.

The Hoenn League was not particularly worried about Kyogre in its ordinary form. At most, it could cause a small-scale disaster, and there were many powerful experts and technologies capable of bringing such a disaster under control. It did not constitute a genuine threat.

But now…

If Kyogre were in its ordinary form, it could never have caused such widespread upheaval throughout the ocean.

There was only one possibility: Kyogre had returned to its primal state, transforming the sea environment into the Primordial Sea!

“Elite Four Phoebe said the Blue Orb might contain the natural energy Kyogre had lost. It looks like she was right…”

Team Aqua!

Team Aqua members had clearly been detected operating in the waters near Mossdeep City. They must have located the underwater cavern where Kyogre slept and awakened it with the Blue Orb.

What Team Aqua had failed to anticipate was that the Blue Orb possessed no ability to control Kyogre. Instead, it was a highly nourishing treasure that Kyogre could not resist.

The abnormalities in the Mossdeep waters and at Mt. Chimney had occurred one after the other. Team Magma and Team Aqua had clearly planned this in advance, intending to restrict the League’s movements through this method.

“Something strange is happening on my side as well…” Terrance raised his head.

With the waters near Mt. Chimney as the center, a wave of intense heat gradually spread outward. The ocean began to evaporate, the earth started to crack, and the sunlight grew increasingly vicious. The two weather phenomena affected different regions, plunging Hoenn into an even more complicated state of chaos.

The centers of the chaos were Mossdeep City and the area around Mt. Chimney. These two places were suffering the most severe effects, while cities farther away were comparatively less affected.

“Groudon may have undergone Primal Reversion as well,” Steven guessed over the phone.

Blazing sunlight and raging floods had emerged together. Terrance felt indescribably aggrieved. He had planted Power Herbs on Mt. Chimney. Although they were on the other side of the mountain, he desperately hoped they would not be scorched to death.

“Primal Reversion? So the torrential rain over there was caused by Primal Kyogre?”

“That should be the case. Elite Four Phoebe’s preliminary theory is that Team Magma and Team Aqua mixed up the orbs. The Red Orb possesses the power to awaken Groudon. It contains the natural energy Groudon lost and can awaken it. Meanwhile, the Blue Orb possesses the power to awaken Kyogre. It contains the natural energy Kyogre lost and can likewise awaken it. From that perspective, the Red Orb and Blue Orb do indeed correspond to Groudon and Kyogre respectively. However, to control them, an orb of the opposite color is required.”

“What kind of logic is that? Suppressing them with an opposing power?”

“That is the only explanation we have right now.”

“So not only did Team Magma and Team Aqua both fail in their plans to control their respective Legendary Pokémon, but they also caused Groudon and Kyogre to go berserk after coming into contact with the natural energy they had lost?” Terrance said speechlessly. They were truly idiotic.

The Desolate Land and the Primordial Sea now coexisted across Hoenn, drawing intense international attention to the region.

Trainers from Kanto, Johto, Sinnoh, Unova, Kalos, and many other regions independently began making their way to Hoenn to assist with the rescue efforts. Under mounting pressure, and because of the severity of the situation, the Hoenn League saw the names of the two major organizations—Team Aqua and Team Magma—begin to appear frequently in newspapers, on the internet, on television, and in conversations on the streets.

To address the concerns of Hoenn’s people, the major television stations practically risked their lives to provide live coverage from the various disaster zones during this period.

Terrance had been searching these waters for quite some time. Unfortunately, even after continuously following the massive energy fluctuation indicated by the coordinates, he still failed to find any trace of Groudon.

“That shouldn’t be possible.” Terrance frowned. If it had been Kyogre, that would have been understandable, since his speed might not have been enough to keep up with Kyogre moving through the ocean. But if Groudon had entered the sea, it should not have vanished so quickly.

The diagram of massive energy fluctuations transmitted by the Weather Institute likely represented Groudon’s coordinates, yet when Terrance arrived, he found absolutely nothing.

How strange. Could Groudon actually fly?

Before long, Terrance received another report. The information made his brow furrow once again. The situation was beginning to develop in an even more uncontrollable direction.

“It has been confirmed that the massive energy fluctuations causing the changes in the ocean and land have disappeared, and they have been gone for some time. According to projections, the ocean and land will return to normal within twelve hours, while the weather effects will gradually weaken during that period.”

From the report, Terrance saw the conclusion that Groudon and Kyogre might have exited their primal states. However, that also meant they had now lost the ability to track Groudon’s and Kyogre’s locations. With the main forces of Team Magma and Team Aqua still nowhere to be seen, it was impossible to feel at ease.

With mixed feelings, Terrance continued scouting the waters while waiting for new intelligence. This time, his search was even more thorough, and he did not limit himself to the path followed by the massive energy fluctuations. Before long, he made a new discovery.

A large amount of wreckage was scattered across one stretch of sea. Judging by its structure, it appeared to have come from an aircraft carrier, but Terrance found it strangely familiar. In the end, he fell silent.

“It looks like Team Magma’s main force still hasn’t given up.”

The wreckage closely resembled components from the maritime base of Team Magma that Terrance had previously infiltrated. After calling out the Rotom Pokédex to analyze it, Terrance sank into thought. Team Magma’s deep-sea weapon had not been critically damaged, and its main body could still operate. In other words, after failing to control Groudon, Maxie and the others had escaped safely.

“Then what happened to Groudon? Could Team Magma have taken it away or lured it somewhere?”

The situation around Mossdeep City was even more complicated than Terrance’s side. The ocean was not Team Magma’s home ground, but Team Aqua could move through it like fish in water, making it extremely difficult for the League to detect their movements. The Hoenn League still knew nothing about what had happened between Team Aqua and Kyogre. All it could do was place every island and the coastal areas of the Hoenn mainland under strict control, cutting off any possibility of the two organizations reaching land.
