LPPD Chapter 61 Opening It Up a Little

Weedle would never be a slave!

Unless it meant filling its stomach!

Even that ugly Pokémon was willing to follow Lu Li, this fake human. So what reason did a weak Pokémon like itself, with nowhere else to go, have to refuse?

Besides… Lord Indeedee had also said that the bond between a Trainer and a Pokémon could transcend species and everything else.

After thinking it through, Weedle resolutely bumped the button on the Poké Ball with its head.

Weedle turned into a beam of white light and was drawn into the Poké Ball.

“I caught Weedle!” Lu Li shouted as he raised the Poké Ball high.

Indeedee happily watched the scene as well. The positive emotions radiating from Lu Li once again surpassed the critical point. Simply put, Lu Li’s happiness and excitement had gone off the charts again.

“Maybe he really will become an excellent Trainer,” Indeedee thought.

After letting Weedle back out, Lu Li also released Feebas.

Pointing at the two basins on the floor, Lu Li said, “You two drink all this nutrient solution. That battle just now must have used up quite a bit of your stamina.”

Feebas jumped straight into the basin filled with nutrient solution, while Weedle crawled toward the nutrient solution it had already drunk half of earlier.

“Indeedee, thank you. You really helped me out,” Lu Li said gratefully.

Indeedee waved its hands somewhat bashfully, indicating that there was no need to thank it.

“Indeedee”

Indeedee’s eyes suddenly lit up. It took a book out of its personal storage space and handed it to Lu Li.

Lu Li accepted the book in confusion. He could not understand the writing on the cover, but he could at least make sense of the picture.

“This is a book from the Pokémon world?” Lu Li asked in surprise.

Indeedee nodded, then hesitantly took out its drawing board and pen.

A moment later, Indeedee handed the drawing board to Lu Li.

The drawing roughly asked whether Lu Li was willing to undergo mental infusion. Indeedee could transmit the written language of the Pokémon world to him.

“Are you sure this will be okay?” Lu Li asked worriedly.

Indeedee spread its hands, indicating that it could only do its best.

Lu Li could indeed feel that he had grown considerably stronger recently, both physically and mentally.

Considering that he was no longer the same weakling he had once been, Lu Li decided to try again.

Success would naturally be best. Even if it failed, the worst that would happen was a headache.

With a tense expression, Lu Li said, “Come on.”

Indeedee also became completely serious as it mobilized its psychic power and carefully connected to Lu Li’s brain.

Lu Li could clearly feel his “head being opened wide again,” but this time his reaction was not nearly as intense as before, nor was it as painful.

After successfully completing the first step, Indeedee took a deep breath and then cautiously began sending the “language package” of the Pokémon world into Lu Li’s mind.

It did not dare send him too much at once, afraid that it might overload Lu Li’s brain.

“Ugh!”

Lu Li suddenly cried out in pain, then immediately passed out.

“Fee~bas!”

“Wee~dle!”

“Indee~dee!”

In the final moment before losing consciousness, Lu Li vaguely heard three different Pokémon cries.

By the time he woke up again, he was already lying on a guest bed in the hotel.

Staring at the unfamiliar ceiling, Lu Li felt as though his brain had swollen.

He propped himself up on the bedsheets and sat upright. His gaze swept over the two Poké Balls resting quietly on the bedside table, and only then did his hanging heart settle back down.

Two flashes of white light appeared, and Feebas and Weedle both emerged onto the bed.

“Fee~bas!”

Feebas looked at Lu Li with a face full of worry.

“Little Beauty, I’m fine,” Lu Li reassured it softly.

“Weedle”

Weedle, with its strong desire to show off, also hurriedly expressed its concern.

“Thank you, Weedle. I’m already fine.” As Lu Li spoke, he also patted Weedle’s head. He did not dare touch the horn on Weedle’s head, because that horn carried deadly poison. In his current condition, if he were actually stabbed by it, the odds of him dying on the spot were far greater than the odds of him surviving until Indeedee arrived.

After calming down his two little companions, Lu Li returned them to their Poké Balls. Then, curious, he picked up the book beside him and began reading.

This time, he could finally understand the words written on the cover.

How to Become an Excellent Pokémon Caretaker

“Could this be knowledge on raising Legendary Pokémon?” Lu Li’s eyes lit up as he opened the book.

The book was quite hefty, with a spine a full two centimeters thick.

It described in detail how to care for Pokémon of various types, with the largest section devoted to caring for young Pokémon.

Lu Li flipped to the section on Bug-type Pokémon, and an image of a Weedle immediately came into view.

It stated that Weedle’s larval stage lasted roughly twenty days. In other words, Weedle only needed twenty days to evolve into Kakuna.

Seeing this, Lu Li frowned.

Wasn’t Pokémon evolution supposed to depend on levels or accumulated energy?

With this question in mind, Lu Li continued reading.

Before long, he had finished that section, and most of the doubts lingering in his mind were finally cleared up.

Weedle had a very short lifespan. A normal Weedle only lived for forty days. If it failed to evolve within those forty days, it would die of old age.

“Do Bug-type Pokémon really have such short lifespans?” Lu Li thought speechlessly.

There was some good news, though. Kakuna could live for as long as a year, while Beedrill had an even longer lifespan of four years.

Beedrill could only live for four years?

Lu Li found that result rather difficult to accept. Pokémon were clearly extraordinary creatures, so how could their lifespans be this short?

Unable to let go of this doubt, Lu Li flipped back to the table of contents, hoping to find a more detailed explanation in the book.

He quickly found a section describing Pokémon lifespans.

In the Pokémon world, Pokémon had different realms, which were what people commonly referred to as levels.

Infant Stage, Growth Stage, Adult Stage, Ordinary level, Professional level, Elite level, Gym level, Elite Four level, and Champion level.

Once a Pokémon broke through to the Gym level, its lifespan would increase tenfold from its original lifespan.

Taking Beedrill as an example, a Beedrill below Gym level normally had a lifespan of only four years. Although it was said to be able to live for four years, its physical condition would actually begin declining during its third year.

A Gym-level Beedrill, on the other hand, could live for as long as forty years. Furthermore, as a Pokémon’s strength increased, its lifespan would also become longer.

Calculated this way, powerful Pokémon actually had fairly long lifespans.

According to the realm classifications of the Pokémon world, Indeedee’s strength should be somewhere between the Professional and Elite-level.

Feebas should currently be at the Growth Stage, while Weedle happened to be in the Growth Stage as well, since Weedle’s infancy lasted for less than a week.

It had already been ten days since it hatched.

Lu Li then thought of the Caterpie he had seen while watching videos before.

That Caterpie’s strength should have been in the late Growth Stage, and it had already been preparing to form its cocoon. Unfortunately, the unlucky Caterpie had gotten hit by a car shortly after arriving in this world. In desperation, it had converted all the energy it had accumulated inside its body into the power of its move and released it all at once.

If it had been in the Pokémon world, that Caterpie would merely have needed to accumulate its energy again. In the resource-rich Pokémon world, replenishing enough energy for evolution would have taken at most one or two days.

But in this world, that Caterpie would probably find it difficult to evolve for the rest of its life.

After all, Caterpie in the Growth Stage already had short lifespans to begin with, not to mention that particular Caterpie might already have been quite old.
