After everyone discussed a few more trivial matters, the meeting came to an end.
Once the meeting was over, Lu Li did not want to stay in the meeting room for even a moment longer. After all, he was eager to get back and train Feebas.
Ever since he had caught Feebas with the Poké Ball, he had found that communicating with Feebas was becoming smoother and smoother.
Lu Li now seriously suspected that Poké Balls might have some useful functions he did not know about.
In the games, Feebas had to reach Level 15 before it could learn Tackle, and then Level 25 before it could learn Flail.
Normally speaking, if Feebas did not evolve, it would only know three moves for its entire life.
Of course, there were also some special cases. Pokémon with particularly outstanding parents had a good chance of inheriting moves.
For example, a Feebas that knew Dragon Breath.
But Little Beauty was clearly nothing special, so it had not inherited any moves.
Lu Li did not mind, though. After all, Little Beauty did not dislike him for being a “fake human,” so how could he have the nerve to dislike Feebas for being ordinary?
How did that saying go again?
A son won’t abandon his mother for being ugly, just as a dog won’t abandon its owner for being poor.
Lu Li felt that humans and Pokémon should be a little more sincere with each other.
After several days of training, Feebas had already gained a preliminary grasp of Tackle.
Now, when Feebas rammed into something, it could leave a clear mark on a tiled wall. Even Lu Li could not tell whether it had truly learned Tackle or had accidentally comprehended something akin to an iron-head technique.
But one thing was certain: if an ordinary person took a solid hit like that, there was an eighty or ninety percent chance they would end up with several broken ribs.
In Lu Li’s view, however, the power of this attack was still far from enough. After all, while browsing the internet before, he had seen a Caterpie smash into a moving car headfirst and wreck it.
The gap between the two was still rather large.
After Feebas finished its first round of training, Lu Li mixed up some protein powder, then took vitamin tablets of various kinds and calcium tablets, ground them into powder, and mixed them in as well.
If a normal human or animal ate like this, ten lives probably would not be enough to pay for it.
But Feebas ate until it looked radiant and remained exceptionally healthy.
Most importantly, he had finally managed to fill Feebas’s stomach.
Anyone who had trained before knew that you had to eat your fill during training to have the strength to exercise. Pokémon training was the same.
The first time Lu Li finally fed Feebas until it was full, both Lu Li and Feebas were so moved that tears welled up in their eyes.
Lu Li: I finally fed it enough.
Feebas: I finally don’t have to go hungry anymore.
Training while hungry was actually very hard, but Feebas also knew that Lu Li was very weak. After all, Lu Li was only a fake human, and just about any Pokémon could take his life.
So Feebas knew that, for Lu Li’s sake, it had to train properly and become stronger. At the very least, it had to learn Tackle.
Once it learned that move, if they truly encountered danger, it could at least buy Lu Li some time to escape.
“You picked me up from a trash can, so I will protect you for the rest of my life. This is my oath and my destiny!” Feebas stared at Lu Li with a firm and spirited gaze.
Lu Li did not understand what Feebas was thinking, but he could roughly tell that Feebas was responding to him with extraordinary determination.
This was why, even though the arrival of Pokémon had brought enormous disaster to this world, he still loved these Pokémon without hesitation.
Pokémon were far too easily moved, and far too willing to give everything they had.
So, double the training!
After spending more than half an hour finally feeding Feebas until it was full, Lu Li placed it in the large water tank and let it digest its food for a while.
Once it finished digesting, they would continue training.
Lu Li’s current plan was very simple: once Feebas learned Tackle, they would start developing combo moves.
The so-called combo move involved him throwing the Poké Ball at a Pokémon, then having Feebas suddenly leap out of the Poké Ball and land a brutal hit on the opponent.
After all, Feebas itself was a Water-type Pokémon and was not suited for fighting on land. It would only get one chance to attack, so he had to aim for a one-hit knockout.
Once it mastered this combo move technique, he could try capturing some weaker Pokémon.
Lu Li’s first target was Blipbug. As a Larva Pokémon, Blipbug had a base stat total of only 180 in the games, even lower than Feebas’s.
Moreover, the only move it could learn was Struggle Bug. It was practically the perfect pushover, even easier to handle than the likes of Caterpie.
Most importantly, Blipbug had two stages of evolution, and its final evolution, Orbeetle, had a base stat total exceeding 500.
A Pokémon with a base stat total of 500 could already be considered at the lower end of the first tier.
His second target was Sunkern. As another Pokémon with a base stat total of only 180, and also a Grass-type Pokémon, Sunkern was relatively easy to raise.
The downside was that it required a Sun Stone to evolve. But when Indeedee arrived, it had brought quite a few held items with it, so other Pokémon had surely brought some when they appeared as well.
Sun Stones were not necessarily extinct in this world. They were simply very difficult to obtain.
That was precisely why Sunkern was only his second target. If he had a Sun Stone, then Sunkern would have been his first choice.
His third target, and also his final target, was Weedle. It was a Bug-type Pokémon that occupied the bottom of the Pokémon world’s food chain.
If Feebas’s Tackle was powerful enough, then it might be able to defeat these two kinds of Pokémon, even though the base stat totals of their final evolutions did not even reach 400.
But in an environment like this, successfully persuading a Pokémon to join him was already difficult enough. How could he dare ask for more?
As for Caterpie?
Ever since he saw that unlucky young man lose his life because of Butterfree’s scales, Lu Li had kept his distance from that kind of Pokémon.
Lu Li actually had another target as well: the Oddish in the median strip.
The problem was that Oddish were Poison-type Pokémon. Any Pokémon that carried poison should be kept at a respectful distance, because Poison-type Pokémon were far too dangerous for ordinary people.
Butterfree’s poison was already absurd enough, let alone Oddish, especially its evolved form, Gloom.
Lu Li did not want to become someone who was literally stunk to death. That would be far too ridiculous a way to die.
Lu Li also sat down in a chair to rest.
After all, he had spent all that time mixing protein powder and running back and forth. It had been pretty tiring.
After resting for roughly an hour, Feebas took the initiative to leap out of the fish tank, then looked at Lu Li with bright, energetic eyes.
“All right, let’s start training.”
Lu Li discovered that after Feebas stopped being dull-witted, it became especially hardworking.
Still, that was a good thing.
Anyone who had watched the anime knew that a Trainer who could get their Pokémon to cooperate with training was already a very outstanding Trainer.
From that point alone, Feebas was exceptionally good.
“Tackle is a Normal-type physical move. In the games, it is described as charging at the opponent with the entire body.”
“In other words, we can’t just ram with the head. We need to mobilize the strength of the entire body.”
Lu Li began gesturing as he explained the principles behind the move Tackle.
He had also made the mistake of relying too much on experience before.
He had assumed Tackle simply meant hitting with the head, forgetting that the games had long since provided a detailed description of the move.
