LPPD Chapter 42 Indeedee’s Return Gift

Previous ChapterNext Chapter

“Oh, right, I forgot to introduce you.” Lu Li picked up the fish tank from the bedside cabinet and placed it on the table before introducing, “This is Feebas, my family.”

“This little one had rather bad luck. When Pokémon first descended, it accidentally fell into a trash can.”

Indeedee had actually noticed Feebas long ago. It simply had not expected Lu Li to treat Feebas as family.

As a “top student,” Indeedee naturally knew about Feebas.

Feebas have tenacious vitality and could even survive in filthy gutters, but Feebas were also very rare.

The main reason was that neither Feebas nor Milotic reproduced very often. Feebas were simply too dull-witted, to the point that they were practically too stupid to reproduce.

“Indeedee”

Indeedee politely greeted it.

Feebas also curiously looked Indeedee over. When Indeedee had first appeared in the room, it had still been somewhat worried and nervous.

It was afraid Indeedee would steal Lu Li’s attention from it, and it was also afraid Indeedee might hurt Lu Li.

But now, Feebas was only worried that Indeedee would steal Lu Li’s attention.

“Indeedee”

(Don’t worry. I’m only here as a guest.)

Lu Li did not understand what Indeedee’s cry meant, but he could tell Indeedee and Feebas were interacting, perhaps even chatting.

“Indee~dee.”

Indeedee suddenly cried out happily, then vanished from the spot.

Lu Li stared blankly at the place where Indeedee had suddenly disappeared.

“Did you two argue? Did you actually drive our guest away?” Lu Li asked in confusion.

Feebas looked at Lu Li with lively eyes, its tail swishing back and forth. It did not look angry or upset at all.

Seeing this, Lu Li also breathed a sigh of relief. As long as they had not argued, it was fine.

He was still rather worried that Feebas might offend Indeedee. After all, Feebas’s combat ability was, well, those who knew, knew. Indeedee’s level was right there, and even if it was not particularly good at fighting, it could still crush Feebas barehanded.

Now Lu Li was even more curious about why Indeedee had suddenly left.

“Could something have happened over at the hotel?” Lu Li thought worriedly.

As a normal person, Lu Li naturally wouldn’t take pleasure in something going wrong at the hotel.

Just as Lu Li was letting his imagination run wild because of Indeedee’s departure, Indeedee suddenly reappeared in the living room with a whoosh.

This time, it was holding an exquisite gift box. It looked freshly made—at the very least, the box itself looked brand new.

That was because the gift box had a very Pokémon-like style.

How could he tell?

Naturally, because the outer wrapping was printed with Milotic.

This world had no Pokémon games or anime. If Milotic appeared on paper, then the only possibility was that Indeedee had brought this thing over from another world.

At that thought, Lu Li realized something very serious.

If Psychic-type Pokémon has personal storage spaces, then wouldn’t they have brought things from the Pokémon world with them when they descended?

Things like Poké Balls or Held Items, for example.

The thought made Lu Li excited as well.

If that guess was true…

But soon, Lu Li calmed down again.

Poké Balls could indeed capture Pokémon, but the problem was that the humans of this world and the humans of the Pokémon world were basically two different breeds. What if those Pokémon simply refused to acknowledge the people of this world?

Just like how a normal person wouldn’t think of becoming an animal’s slave.

Wait.

Lu Li then thought of all the cat slaves and dog slaves in modern society. If that was the case, then capturing Pokémon didn’t seem completely impossible either.

But the prerequisite was finding Poké Balls, Apricorns, Apricorn seeds, or similar items.

Indeedee solemnly presented the gift box to Lu Li.

Lu Li gladly accepted the gift.

This was a present from another world. Lu Li was far too curious about what was inside.

He guessed it might be some kind of pastry. After all, Indeedee looked like the sort of Pokémon that knew how to make pastries.

After accepting the gift, Lu Li chatted with Indeedee for a while longer, though the conversation was especially exhausting for both sides.

Every time Indeedee answered, it had to draw something. By now, it had already drawn dozens of pictures.

Feeling that its hand was getting sore, Indeedee decided to take its leave.

Seeing this, Lu Li decided to walk Indeedee out.

After escorting Indeedee to the third floor, Lu Li hurried back home impatiently.

After locking the door from the inside, Lu Li solemnly opened the gift box.

This feeling, like opening a mystery box, was seriously thrilling.

Considering that the things inside might have come from another world, Lu Li was also rather worried that someone might accidentally barge in at this moment.

Given how resistant the people of this world were toward Pokémon, Lu Li was genuinely afraid of being branded a traitor to humanity.

After untying the ribbon on the gift box, Lu Li carefully removed the wrapping.

After all, this thing might very well be one of a kind. Its collectible value was off the charts. More importantly, the paper had Milotic printed on it. To Feebas, that was absolutely the perfect inspirational role model.

After smoothing out the sheet printed with Milotic, Lu Li rubbed his palms together and began the most exciting part of opening the mystery box.

The moment the box opened, Lu Li stared at the contents and completely froze.

It was the kind of dazed feeling that came from being overwhelmed by sheer ecstasy.

Like an ordinary person buying a lottery ticket and winning hundreds of millions on the day of the drawing.

Lu Li’s right hand trembled slightly. His face flushed red as he shakily took out the pure white Poké Ball inside.

Yes.

The gift Indeedee had given him was actually Poké Balls, along with several Berries.

When he saw how big the box was, he had thought there was a cake inside.

Never in his wildest dreams had he expected it to contain Poké Balls and Berries.

“Indeedee! You’re practically my second parent!” Lu Li’s voice nearly cracked from excitement.

There were three Poké Balls in total. One of them was white. As a walking Pokémon encyclopedia, Lu Li immediately recognized that the white Poké Ball was most likely a Premier Ball.

The other two were ordinary red-and-white Poké Balls.

What did it mean to have Poké Balls in his hands?

It meant being transported back to ancient times with an AK-47 in your hands, and with infinite ammunition!

At this moment, Lu Li felt as though he had grasped the future.

Previously, he had been thinking about using his knowledge of Pokémon to latch onto the thigh of some powerful Pokémon and barely scrape by in this world.

But now, with Poké Balls in his hands, it was as though he held the key to rewriting his destiny!

To merely cling to life is not my desire; my only wish is for the seas to be calm!

Cross out the survival plan. His new goal was to become a Pokémon Master!

Lu Li wore a silly grin as his fingertips rubbed over the Poké Ball in his hand.

Especially the Premier Ball.

In the games, the Premier Ball had a catch rate multiplier of one. He wondered whether the Premier Ball in the real world worked the same way.

As for the remaining two red-and-white Poké Balls, Lu Li carefully took them out as well. These things were far too important. Lu Li didn’t even know where he should keep them.

If he carried them with him, he was afraid he might lose them while going out to search for supplies.

If he left them at home, he felt the camp wasn’t secure enough.

There was no helping it. Poké Balls were simply too precious—so precious that right now, everyone he looked at seemed like a Pixiu eyeing his treasure.
