“I remember that Cameran Palace no longer possesses any Aura inheritance, correct? The Staff of the Hero and Sir Aaron’s Gloves can now only be treated as commemorative objects. In that case, it would be better to let them fulfill their proper value. Regardless of the outcome, I will provide Queen Ilene with a complete Aura usage method. With those two items, Cameran Palace might even be able to produce a true ‘Aura Hero,’ rather than the ‘fake hero’ selected through the festival.”
Albus’s words struck directly at Queen Ilene’s heart.
Several hundred years ago, Cameran Palace still possessed the inheritance of Aura users. Those generations were all descendants of the Hero Sir Aaron.
However, not long afterward, Sir Aaron’s descendants left Cameran Palace. It was from that point onward that Cameran Palace lost its Aura user inheritance.
In its place came the annual festival commemorating the “Aura Hero.”
The price paid when Sir Aaron’s descendants left Cameran Palace was the Staff of the Hero remaining behind. But after losing its Aura users, Cameran Palace had no idea how to use the Staff of the Hero, and even while possessing it, they could only treat it as a spiritual symbol of Cameran Palace.
Queen Ilene suddenly looked toward Ash. Previously, she had invited Ash to remain at Cameran Palace, promising him hereditary high nobility status and the opportunity to become a true Aura Hero. However, Ash had refused. Even so, she had not given up, because Cameran Palace truly needed a genuine Aura Hero.
Only then could the Staff of the Hero and Sir Aaron’s gloves display their greatest value.
Albus’s promise moved Queen Ilene deeply. She even hoped to keep Albus himself, allowing this true Aura user to remain at Cameran Palace.
“This matter can be considered, but it will require time.”
“No problem.” Terrance revealed a smile. Things had gone exactly according to plan. Even Queen Ilene could not refuse such conditions.
“In that case, let us move on to discussing the establishment of the Pokémon Contest Hall.”
…
…
Although the opening topic of the discussion had been serious, once it shifted into a mutually beneficial exchange, everything proceeded rather smoothly.
After Terrance and the others walked out of Cameran Palace, Ash still looked puzzled.
“But Brother Terrance, how did you know about me releasing Lucario?”
Terrance’s sudden contact back then had truly startled Ash. After all, Ash had originally had no intention of publicizing the events surrounding the Tree of Beginning.
“You idiot.” Albus suddenly smacked Ash hard on the head.
“Did you already forget what I told you when I taught you Aura power?”
“I didn’t forget! Back then, Teacher, you said… because of certain circumstances, you could no longer use your Aura power, so you placed your hopes on me. You also told me to visit Cameran Palace when I had time…”
“Could it be that Sir Aaron’s gloves and the Staff of the Hero can restore your Aura?” Ash suddenly came to a realization.
“Whether they’ll work or not, I don’t know. But my intuition… no, Aura is telling me that the key lies there. Gloves capable of letting a beginner Aura user like you master the ability to transfer Aura are definitely more advanced than the Aura gloves I gave you.”
“As for the Staff of the Hero capable of sealing Lucario, it contains an even higher-level Aura usage method. If I can understand it, then even if I cannot surpass Senior Aaron, perhaps reaching a level close to his Aura attainments may still be possible,” Albus muttered thoughtfully before shaking his head again. “Of course, the most likely outcome is that I discover nothing at all. After all, these are things from a very long time ago. But to Aura users like us, anything left behind by Senior Aaron still holds a fatal attraction.”
Ash exclaimed and said, “So that’s how it is.”
Hearing the exchange between the two, Terrance helplessly shook his head. His own purpose was also very straightforward; he wanted to use Aura power to strengthen his physique.
As the group left, they saw blue crystals scattered throughout Cameran Palace. These crystals looked exactly the same as the blue ore embedded on the Staff of the Hero, Sir Aaron’s gloves, and Albus’s Aura gloves.
However, they did not possess the same effects.
“What a pity. Although this kind of ore exists in large quantities and grows all throughout Cameran Palace, only a tiny fraction of it can actually be used to craft Aura gloves.”
Albus sighed.
At Albus’s request, Terrance had also once investigated information regarding this ore. This ore existed only in Cameran Palace, so it was natural for him to connect it to the Tree of Beginning. After extensive investigation, Terrance had indeed uncovered some clues, though he still could not be entirely certain. However, under Rotom Pokédex’s analysis, the ore used by both Sir Aaron and Albus seemed to possess fluctuations related to the Time Flower.
“As for this ore, I remember there being a lot of it inside the Tree of Beginning as well…” Ash recalled.
“Perhaps. But that place really isn’t somewhere ordinary people can enter.” Albus rolled his eyes. Just the guardian Pokémon like Regirock, Regice, and Registeel alone were enough to give outsiders a hard time, not to mention the existence of a Mew capable of borrowing the power of the Tree of Beginning.
If they were treated as viruses and expelled like Ash and the others had been, then no amount of lives would be enough.
“Speaking of which, I once promised Mew that if I had the chance, I’d bring Pikachu to play with it again…” Ash said.
“Hm?”
As soon as Ash finished speaking, Terrance and Albus immediately looked toward him. Terrance especially reacted at once.
“Since we rarely get the chance to come to Cameran Palace, you should go see Mew.”
The fact that the Tree of Beginning and Mew were one entity was not a secret among the Cameran Palace royal family and the League’s upper ranks. However, no one dared harbor thoughts of capturing this Mew, simply because it could borrow the power of the Tree of Beginning. Under normal circumstances, only if the League mobilized massive forces would it even be possible to control this Mew, but the consequences of damaging the Tree of Beginning were not something the League could bear.
Over the years, it wasn’t as though no ambitious individuals had tried to capture this Mew. But including Team Rocket, all of them had returned empty-handed, much less the smaller, insignificant organizations.
Therefore, Terrance believed this Mew was probably not the same Mew that had appeared on New Island. However, as for the actual situation, he still needed to see it with his own eyes. So when Ash mentioned Mew, Terrance immediately developed the desire to visit the Tree of Beginning and meet Mew himself, if only to satisfy his curiosity.
“However, it’s already quite late today, so let’s postpone searching for Mew until tomorrow. Next, we should first get cleaned up, then attend the banquet Queen Ilene prepared for us.” Terrance smiled faintly. “Ash, as for the battle between you and me, I’ve been looking forward to it for a very long time.”
At the mention of a battle, Ash suddenly remembered the promise he had made with Terrance earlier. He immediately cracked his knuckles, already unable to wait any longer himself.
