Altar of the Sunne.
After the guardian deities and Xerneas left, Terrance walked to the edge of a cliff and surveyed the surrounding environment.
Then, facing a certain direction, he threw out Altaria’s Poké Ball.
With the Rotom Pokédex not by his side, he had to rely on himself to determine direction. After indicating the destination to Altaria, they immediately flew toward Seafolk Village in the southwest of Poni Island.
Seafolk Village is a settlement formed by people who live on boats, so aside from the giant tree in the center and the Pokémon Center, facilities such as shops and restaurants are all boats themselves.
Simply put, this is a village built on boats. Its fairy-tale-like lifestyle makes it a uniquely distinctive seaside town on Poni Island. As for why Terrance came here, it’s because Seafolk Village has the only Pokémon Center on Poni Island.
“Come back, Altaria.”
After arriving at an open area, Altaria slowly descended. Terrance jumped down from its back and recalled it into its Poké Ball.
Although he didn’t carry any identification, after explaining the situation to the Nurse Joy at the Pokémon Center, Terrance was able to make his call smoothly.
He first contacted Fallarbor Gym to explain his whereabouts, and then Terrance reached out to Faba from the Aether Foundation. About fifteen minutes later, an Aether Foundation employee stationed on Poni Island quickly arrived at the Pokémon Center.
“Mr. Terrance, please follow me.” The person was a man in his early twenties, wearing green sunglasses and somewhat resembling Faba. He said he was a fan of Faba and imitated Faba’s clothing style… this man had been sent by Faba to guide Terrance. While chatting casually, the two boarded an Aether Foundation-exclusive helicopter and soon arrived at the artificial island of the Alola region, “Aether Paradise.”
The Aether Foundation, although a nonprofit organization dedicated to public welfare, possesses top-tier research capabilities in the Alola region, and its overall strength ranks among the very best.
All of this is thanks to the prestige the Aether Foundation has accumulated among the people of Alola over a long period of time. Moreover, not only do the people of Alola support the Aether Foundation, but even the Pokémon of the region trust it, as the foundation frequently sends personnel into the wild to protect and rescue Pokémon in distress. Therefore… the Aether Foundation can be said to have the full support of both the people and Pokémon.
With the support of both humans and Pokémon, the Aether Foundation developed rapidly. In the Alola region, where no Pokémon League has been established, it is one of the few top-tier forces.
Even while riding the Aether Foundation’s exclusive helicopter, Terrance still had to go through quite a few procedures upon entering Aether Paradise. It was clear that without someone guiding him, entering the core of the Aether Foundation directly would not be easy.
Faba is the chief of the Aether Foundation’s research department. After entering Aether Paradise, Terrance was taken straight to the research department, and when he arrived, Faba was still immersed in his research.
Green hair, a beard, and sunglasses, combined with a somewhat sinister gaze, made Faba look less than trustworthy. However, his research ability was the opposite of his appearance—truly among the top in the Alola region—otherwise, he wouldn’t hold a position as an executive of the Aether Foundation and the chief of its research department.
“Are you researching how to open an Ultra Wormhole?”
Terrance looked at the launcher-like device in the courtyard and asked curiously.
“Unfortunately, we only succeeded once. After that, we’ve never succeeded again.” Faba dismissed the assisting researchers and said unwillingly.
“How about it, Terrance? Join me. If we work together to open the Ultra Wormhole, we’ll definitely cause a sensation in the academic world!!”
Caressing the launcher-like device, Faba spoke with fanatic enthusiasm.
If it were an ordinary researcher, he wouldn’t even consider inviting them, but Terrance was different. Terrance had studied the process of granting totem aura, and totem aura is closely related to Ultra Wormholes. So when faced with a researcher proficient in the Ultra Wormhole field, even Faba couldn’t resist extending an invitation.
The totem aura granting technique had already been exchanged by the Aether Foundation from the International Police. Faba was the first researcher in the Aether Foundation to fully digest this research result. When he learned that Terrance was the one who completed it, he had been shocked for quite a long time. After all, at the time, Terrance had conducted the research right under his nose, using the Aether Foundation’s equipment…
“Chief Faba, you know me. I don’t really understand scientific research. Compared to me… I believe the Rotom Pokédex would be a better assistant.” Terrance said with a smile.
If you randomly pulled a researcher from under Faba, their professional expertise would likely surpass Terrance’s. Terrance had taken a shortcut with the totem aura research, and he had relied heavily on the Rotom Pokédex’s assistance. Without it, he would never have been this fortunate.
“Rotom Pokédex?” Faba still remembered it. After thinking for a moment, he snorted and said, “Rotom Pokédex, huh. Right, isn’t it with you?”
“No, I came to Alola due to some unexpected circumstances. By the way, Chief Faba, how about we cooperate? I need to grant totem aura onto a Pokémon right now. In exchange, I have the reverse decomposition technique of totem aura, as well as three special stones. They might be helpful for your research on opening Ultra Wormholes.” Terrance grinned. “The reverse conversion from aura to light energy, you probably haven’t studied that, have you?”
“Uh, the reverse conversion of totem aura. Does it have any practical application value?” Faba showed a puzzled expression.
“Well… I’m not sure either, but having more approaches is always a good thing. Besides that, I also have three stones with different functions: one can autonomously absorb light energy, one can store light energy, and one can purify light energy so it can merge with other forms of energy. What do you think? Does that remind you of anything… I think these stones might have some connection with the Sparkling Stones and Z-Crystals. Perhaps they could be a breakthrough point.”
Without any embarrassment, Terrance brought up Beautifly’s Source of Stamina technique, as well as the stones developed by James and Meowth, and used them as bargaining chips to discuss cooperation with Faba.
However, he wasn’t actually interested in researching how to open Ultra Wormholes… whether Ultra Wormholes could be opened by human effort didn’t interest him in the slightest. What he really wanted was to use Faba’s expertise to study whether totem aura could permanently remain on Beautifly.
That was the goal Terrance was eager to achieve.
“Rotom Pokédex will help as well,” Terrance added.
