Kalos Region.
An unknown forest.
Terrance observed the surroundings here for quite a while and initially judged it to be a place far from human habitation.
Ahead lay towering mountains and dense forests. When a strong wind blew, countless trees bent over like waves in the sea stirred by a hurricane, making this place look like a danger zone.
After arriving, Xerneas gave a shake, and Terrance and Diancie were directly thrown off its body.
“Where are we going next?” Terrance asked in confusion.
“Diamond Domain,” Xerneas said slowly without turning back.
“Diancie family has a specific inheritance system. You used Fairy Aura to induce Carbink’s mutation, but the process was incomplete. Losing its previous memories is one of the side effects of that mutation. If not for the influence of the Fairy Mark, it might never have recalled its past.”
As Xerneas finished speaking, Terrance instinctively held Diancie tighter and cautiously asked, “There shouldn’t be any other side effects, right?”
“Unfortunately,” Xerneas replied.
“Energy is not a simple substance. Types close to life, such as Fairy, Grass, and Fire, all carry immense vitality, with Fairy containing the most life energy. You used Fairy energy to help it mutate, but you ignored the impurities within that energy. With Altaria’s current control over Fairy Aura, it cannot fully help Diancie digest and assimilate that energy. It remains a hidden danger. This hidden danger similar to life energy was separated from the Fairy energy, which will conflict with Diancie’s own life force. In the end, its lifespan may even be shorter than that of an ordinary Carbink.”
Walking ahead, Xerneas led the way as Terrance and Diancie followed instinctively. When it finished speaking, in an instant, the trees surged like waves, roaring sounds echoed endlessly, and a cave entrance appeared before them.
“Then how can it be resolved?” Terrance quickly asked.
Extract that excess life energy?
Have Gengar, which feeds on life energy, absorb it?
Or perhaps use Devon’s Infinity Energy technology?
Terrance rapidly thought of several possible solutions, but in the end, he still looked at Xerneas. Since it had brought him and Diancie here, there must be a reason.
Without hesitation, he followed Xerneas into the cave with Diancie. The environment inside immediately amazed Terrance. This didn’t feel like a cave at all, but rather an entrance leading to an underground palace.
Although the cave entrance wasn’t tall, once inside, it felt like stepping into another world. Large blue diamonds lined both sides of the path. As they walked deeper, faint sounds of dripping water could be heard.
The cave was bright, as the blue diamonds embedded everywhere reflected faint light, illuminating the surroundings, making the place resemble a magnificent palace filled with countless gemstones.
The arrival of Terrance, Diancie, and Xerneas immediately caused a commotion among the Pokémon inside the cave.
Dozens of Carbink stepped forward, forming a formation like an army, looking over cautiously.
But when they saw Diancie, they all revealed expressions as if they had seen a ghost, and their formation fell into disorder.
Although he had lost the ability to sense the thoughts of Fairy-type Pokémon, Terrance could roughly understand what they were saying…
It seemed to be… something about Princess Diancie?
“Stop! Stop! All of you, stand down.” At that moment, a relatively elderly Carbink emerged. Upon seeing Xerneas, it immediately stepped forward with great excitement.
“Lord Xerneas, I never expected you to still remember the Diamond Domain. Oh right, do you still remember me? Seventy-five years ago, a great disaster occurred in a place called the ‘Allearth Forest.’ During that catastrophe, it was you who saved me with Fairy Aura.”
This elderly Carbink seemed highly respected. As soon as it appeared, the surrounding guards immediately stepped aside, leaving the space to it.
“Dace…”
The surrounding Carbink were hearing, for the first time, the elder of their domain recount his experiences traveling the mainland in his youth. As he described what had happened back then, all the Carbink around him showed curious expressions.
“Lord Xerneas is a friend of our domain. This friendship dates back to the time when the first Diancie was born and the Diamond Domain was first established. You must not show any disrespect!”
Although the Carbink were speaking their own language rather than using telepathy, Terrance unexpectedly understood what they were saying.
He glanced at Xerneas and realized that it was probably using telepathy to convey their meaning to him.
“The Diancie of this generation in the Diamond Domain has already been born, right…” Xerneas looked at the Dace and asked.
“Lord Xerneas, this generation’s Lady Diancie has been born for less than a year. Her power has not yet matured, and she has not fully mastered etiquette. We ask for your understanding. Would you like to meet her?”
“Mm.” Xerneas nodded.
“Oh, right, Lord Xerneas…” Dace hesitated, looking at Terrance and the Diancie beside him. The doubt had already arisen, but there had been no chance to ask.
“Could it be that, aside from our Diamond Domain, there exists another Diancie lineage?”
Since the birth of the new generation’s Diancie in the Diamond Domain, Dace had personally taken care of her, so unlike the other Carbink, it had not mistaken the identity.
The appearance of another Diancie left Dace troubled as to whether it was a blessing or a misfortune for the Diamond Domain.
Facing Dace’s doubts, Xerneas slowly nodded in response.
At this point in the conversation, Terrance roughly understood why Xerneas had brought him to the Diamond Domain.
There was another Diancie here.
And a complete inheritance of the Diancie lineage.
These might be the key to resolving the side effects of his own Diancie’s mutation.
“Are there guests?”
When Princess Diancie of the Diamond Domain appeared, the two Diancie immediately looked at each other.
Terrance noticed that his own Diancie seemed to have developed better; it was larger than the princess of the Diamond Domain. After thinking about it, he could only attribute it to the massive amount of Fairy energy contributed by the entire fairy army…
“Lady Diancie, this is Lord Xerneas, the benefactor of our kingdom. And this is Lord Terrance and his partner, another Lady Diancie.”
Dace quickly introduced them to Diamond Domain’s Princess Diancie.
This princess was very cute. Upon hearing that they were guests of the Diamond Domain and not enemies, she immediately cupped her hands politely in greeting.
“So that’s how it is… Hello there~ヽ(?????)??”
“Hello.” Terrance smiled and tugged at his own Diancie, whispering, “Aren’t you going to greet her?”
Diancie: “Hello (????)”
