Caterpie, numerous and quick to reproduce, once became the bottom of the food chain due to their weak strength. At least more than half of them became food for bird Pokémon. However, the consequence of doing so was a rapid decrease in lifespan. Originally, Bug Pokémon didn’t have a long lifespan, and by reducing their lifespan to accelerate evolution, the remaining time was only enough to spend a short period.
If a Butterfree evolved in this way and started “mating,” its lifespan would further decrease…
This was the tragedy of a few Bug-type Pokémon. They didn’t have the long life and strength of Dragon-type Pokémon and could only survive in their own way. So, most Bug-type Pokémon were even willing to accept human care because it allowed them to have a comfortable growth environment and a longer lifespan.
That’s why there are so many Bug Catchers.
Terrance was well aware of this, so he took great care of Beautifly, ensuring it wouldn’t leave him too soon. He didn’t spare any expense on expensive nutritional supplements for Beautifly.
Compared to the Wurmple struggling for survival in the wild, Beautifly’s experience was undeniably fortunate.

From the growth method and status of Bug-type Pokémon, one can see how important and difficult evolution is. But…

If Sabrina were to raise Psychic-type Pokémon, she could save 90%, or even 99% of the effort compared to an ordinary Trainer. She and Psychic-type Pokémon were inherently compatible. If her psychic power could also enhance a Pokémon’s strength, it would be too terrifying.
