“Me?” Lisia was momentarily dumbfounded by Terrance’s words, but after thinking it over carefully, she immediately nodded with great interest.
Terrance was right. The explanation he had previously given her about the origins of Fairy energy alone was enough for him to be called her “teacher.”
Judging from Terrance’s tone and the lunar stone’s origins, Lisia knew the stone was extremely valuable. Perhaps outsiders would be unable to discover anything from studying it, but that might not be the case in the hands of Trainers like them who had researched the Fairy Type.
Without needing to think about it, Lisia understood that she had to help Terrance.
“And this is…?” Ishitaro had only just noticed the girl beside Terrance. He had not expected her to be Terrance’s disciple and spoke in surprise.
“Lisia. I’m almost twelve years old. Please advise me,” Lisia said with a smile.
The Rock Style Dojo had proposed leaving the battle to the younger generation, defining “younger generation” as anyone under fourteen based on the age of the Trainer they intended to field. Yet Terrance dared to let a girl who was not even twelve represent him in battle, which surprised Ishitaro.
This girl… She certainly was cute… But there was no telling how strong she was.
“Lisia, do you need to make any preparations?” Terrance turned his head and asked briefly.
“I can battle anytime,” Lisia replied.
“In that case…” Ishitaro had originally wanted to delay things as much as possible, but after thinking it over, he realized there was little point. With Terrance pressing for an answer, he readily agreed.
“All right. I’ll go prepare the battlefield shortly. How about setting the battle for three o’clock this afternoon?”
“No problem. What about the rules?”
“3 vs 3.”
Terrance and Ishitaro quickly finalized the details of the battle. After Terrance and Lisia finished viewing the lunar stone, they were led to a lounge to wait, where someone else was assigned to receive them.
“He agreed?”
“He agreed.”
Inside one of the Rock Style Dojo’s training rooms, Ishitaro once again stood before the elderly leader and reported everything that had transpired during his meeting with Terrance.
“It seems this Elite Four is determined to obtain the lunar stone… Interesting. Still, agreeing to our condition so readily, could this Elite Four be underestimating our Rock Style Dojo? Ishitaro, there won’t be any problem leaving this battle to you, will there?”
“There won’t be. Ryusuke was the runner-up at this year’s Indigo Plateau Conference, and since then, he has already mastered our Rock Style techniques. Elite Four Terrance is still relatively inexperienced and only became an Elite Four recently. Even if he is extraordinarily talented, how could he have had the time to teach a disciple? Besides, I’ve seen his disciple. She’s a girl not yet twelve years old. I don’t think Ryusuke will lose.”
Ishitaro answered after some thought.
Ryusuke, thirteen years old, had distinguished himself at the Star Conference independently organized by Seven Stars City three years ago and entered the Rock Style Dojo to train. After three years of training, he set out on a journey to collect Gym Badges and became the runner-up at the Indigo Plateau Conference that same year, improving at an astonishing pace. Now that he had returned to the Dojo, his strength had advanced even further, making him one of the Rock Style Dojo’s few prodigies.
“An Elite Four’s disciple?”
Inside Rock Style Dojo, when Ryusuke learned that he would need to represent the dojo in a battle against an Elite Four’s disciple, he was immediately astonished. The title of “Elite Four disciple” sounded truly formidable, but he was no weakling himself.
“All right, I’ll do my best.” After saying this to Ishitaro, Ryusuke immediately went to prepare for the battle. Meanwhile, news that Terrance, one of the Hoenn League’s Elite Four, had challenged the Rock Style Dojo to a battle with the lunar stone at stake quickly spread throughout the dojo.
Ishitaro had deliberately released the news, though its circulation was restricted to within the Dojo. If they won, it would give the Rock Style Dojo apprentices a tremendous sense of honor and boost their confidence. Even if they lost, it would still motivate them to work harder.
“An Elite Four’s disciple… Just how strong will she be?” Ryusuke had recently been staying at the dojo and was bored out of his mind. After finishing as runner-up at the Indigo Plateau Conference, he had resolved to train even harder and challenge the Indigo Plateau Conference again. Now, upon suddenly hearing that he had the chance to battle an Elite Four’s disciple, he was filled with anticipation.
Possessing the potential to advance into the Champion League at his age, Ryusuke could be considered one of the strongest Trainers among those under fifteen. Not long after the news spread, quite a few dojo apprentices came looking for him.
“Brother Ryusuke, I just saw your opponent. She’s a really cute girl.”
“Even if she’s a girl, I still have to go all out.” Ryusuke did not dare be careless. The person who had defeated him at the Indigo Plateau Conference had also been female.
At the agreed time, Terrance and Lisia arrived at the Rock Style Dojo’s largest battlefield under Ishitaro’s guidance. Since the dojo was the host, the battlefield was a Rocky field, which seemed highly unfavorable for Lisia.
By the time Terrance and Lisia arrived, all the Rock Style Dojo apprentices were already assembled. Aside from Lisia’s opponent, everyone else stood on raised platforms to watch.
Although Terrance and Lisia could currently be considered their “enemies,” the dojo apprentices still could not help looking at Terrance with admiration. A few even gazed at Lisia with envy.
No matter how famous the Rock Style Dojo was in Seven Stars City, it still fell far short compared to someone like an Elite Four, who stood at the pinnacle of the Trainer world. Thus, the dojo apprentices could hardly contain their excitement upon seeing Terrance.
“Elite Four Terrance, this is my second disciple, Ryusuke. He still has much to learn, so I hope you won’t laugh at him.” In terms of age, Ishitaro was much older than Terrance, whereas Ryusuke was only three or four years younger than Terrance. Ishitaro could not help feeling emotional. A Trainer like Terrance was what one would call a true genius.
“Hello, Elite Four Terrance.” Ryusuke, who had long been waiting at the battlefield, walked forward stiffly to greet the renowned Hoenn Elite Four. However, when his gaze fell upon Lisia beside Terrance, his eyes suddenly trembled, and his face instantly turned red…
So cute…
“Hello.” Seeing Ryusuke’s reaction, Terrance responded with a smile. Then, at Ishitaro’s invitation, the two of them went to sit on the other side and watch. The battle was about to begin.
As the referee stepped forward, Lisia and Ryusuke introduced themselves to one another before taking their respective positions. At that moment, Ishitaro suddenly froze.
It was strange.
Far too strange.
Lisia’s composure was almost too good. Although there were not many spectators present, this was still a battle in which she was representing an Elite Four. Yet Lisia appeared excessively calm. By contrast, Ryusuke, who had already experienced both the Star Conference and the Indigo Plateau Conference, seemed even more nervous and cautious in this battle…
At that moment, Ishitaro began to feel uneasy. Judging solely from her bearing, Terrance’s disciple did not seem simple at all.
