Disgustingly strong?
What kind of evaluation was that?
On the deck, Terrance stood at the front. Behind him were Altaria, Diancie, Gallade, Ninetales, Mawile, and Mismagius. Within the Magic Mirror Domain, their figures appeared somewhat indistinct, but that did nothing to affect the powerful aura they gave off. Coupled with the lingering streams of light on the Magic Mirror Domain, Terrance’s approach made the members of Team Magma involuntarily back away, looking at this Elite Four with some fear.
That terrifying attack from Mega Camerupt just now had actually been devoured as easily as a moth flying into a flame?
Just what kind of monster was the other party…
Just as Courtney was stunned, a round of applause suddenly rang out. A cold-faced man wearing a red coat slowly walked out. He glanced at Camerupt, which had withdrawn from its Mega Evolution form on its own because the Volcano System had drawn away a massive amount of energy, and said calmly, “It seems the unfinished Volcano System still cannot shoulder a great responsibility.”
“However, what I did not expect was that the young Fairy Elite Four would possess such strength. If I, Maxie, can experience it firsthand, it would truly be an immense honor,” Maxie said.
Maxie…
The instant this bespectacled man walked out, Terrance’s pupils contracted, and he suddenly thought of something.
Back in the Hoenn Desert, because of an Unown’s attack, he had accidentally entered a space-time rift and seen scenes from parallel timelines.
In one of those timelines, a red-clad man had led numerous subordinates, controlled Groudon, and easily conquered the Hoenn region. The spirit that man displayed was like an elevated version of the Maxie before his eyes. Their calm and composed attitudes were practically carved from the same mold.
If it were the Maxie from that timeline, Terrance might not be his match at present, but if it was the Maxie of this timeline, that was not necessarily the case.
Crack…
Just as Terrance was distracted for an instant, the Magic Mirror Domain suddenly gave off the sound of shattering. At some unknown point, several towers had risen from Team Magma’s maritime base, all aimed at this place.
Under the sweep of gray beams, even the magic mirror created by the powerful Mega Diancie was completely petrified, then slowly shattered.
“A petrification gun? No, it’s far more terrifying than that.”
As the Magic Mirror Domain shattered, Terrance’s mind grew even calmer. The next moment might be the most critical one. If he could still gain the upper hand in the ensuing battle, destroying this base would not be mere fantasy. But if he still fell into a disadvantage after using all his trump cards, then there would be only one path left—to flee.
What they were comparing now was whose hand was bigger.
Who knew when the Hoenn navy would arrive, but at the very least, it would take dozens of minutes to finish mobilizing and send out enough fighting power. For Terrance, that amount of time was truly very long.
Without waiting for Terrance to reply, Maxie made a gesture, having all the grunts who were in the way to withdraw. Only he, Courtney, and Tabitha were left at the scene. In the next instant, a storm like scalding lava swept over, trapping Terrance and the others.
Amid a booming explosion, Ninetales’s Ice-type energy rapidly spread out, freezing this Magma Storm and causing clouds of steam to rise above the deck. However, thanks to Diancie’s obstruction, this Magma Storm did not have much effect on Terrance’s side.
At the same time, several Pokémon surrounded Terrance and the others.
Heatran?
At the forefront was a reddish-brown Pokémon. Its appearance resembled a turtle’s, with spots of mixed brown and orange across its body. Its legs had structures similar to metal anklets, and each foot had four claws arranged in a cross shape. In addition, the darker underside of Heatran’s body was gray, and its face was covered by a gray protective structure. Its eyes were orange-red. At this moment, Heatran’s mouth was wide open, and Terrance could clearly see the white-hot energy within its body surging outward.
Seeing this powerful and rare Lava Dome Pokémon, Terrance’s gaze flickered. At the same time, his eyes swept over the surroundings. Magmortar, Camerupt, Torkoal, Typhlosion, Magcargo, Houndoom… none of the Pokémon Maxie had sent out looked easy to deal with. Most importantly, several of the Pokémon were wearing special devices. In particular, the hideous shackles on Camerupt’s body looked like instruments of torture, extremely chilling.
“Roar~~~~~~~”
As Terrance watched, a blazing hurricane erupted from Camerupt’s mouth. The hurricane towered in the sky, absorbing the power of Torkoal’s Drought Ability, and its sweeping range was terrifying. Without undergoing Mega Evolution, it displayed strength even greater than Courtney’s Camerupt after Mega Evolution.
The special device it wore perfectly stimulated the potential of Camerupt, which possessed the “Anger Point” Ability, granting it power beyond its limits. Using the power of technology to stimulate a Pokémon’s latent power had always been a taboo in the field of scientific research, but for an illegal organization like Team Magma, as long as it could improve strength, they could act without scruples. This device that stimulated the Anger Point Ability came from Courtney’s hands. The fact that Maxie could possess such strength owed no small credit to this genius scientist whose appearance resembled that of a young girl.
What surprised Terrance was that this flame was not attacking them. Instead, it was all absorbed by that Heatran, transformed into a special power, and accumulated within the rings bound to Heatran’s four legs.
As it devoured the flames, Heatran’s aura grew increasingly immense, giving off a terrifying presence.
Just as all the surrounding flames were being sucked into those rings, the other Pokémon quickly launched their offensive. Even the main Pokémon of Tabitha, this special operations captain, joined in. Seeing this, Terrance pulled out his Key Stone. As a phantom swept past, all the towers that had fired the petrifying beams were cut down. Seeing the petrification weapons that had cost enormous resources to build destroyed, a trace of anger flashed through Courtney’s eyes.
Using technology to deal with Pokémon had both advantages and disadvantages. The disadvantage was that the cost of developing a technological weapon was truly not small, and such technological weapons were very easily destroyed. They were unlike Pokémon, which still possessed the strength to fight even when injured. With these technological weapons, as long as one link went wrong, they might be unable to function and directly become scrap.
As the battle situation unfolded and endless flames surged forth, Terrance let out a cold snort. It was said that Elite Four Glacia had once suffered a loss at Team Magma’s hands. It seemed that this was not mere groundless rumor.
Under the illumination of Fairy Aura’s light, Mawile and Mismagius were the first to rush out. Each side began fighting a Mightyena and a Crobat. Two Mightyena and two Crobat had all stepped into the top-tier, putting no small amount of pressure on Mawile and Mismagius.
Relying on killing techniques, Mawile traded injury for injury. While Mismagius helped slow the worsening of its injuries, it also relied on its profound illusion skills to maneuver around, stalling for time and searching for an opportunity to break the situation.
