To learn faster. He spent a while learning observation haki but he could have learned it instantly if he used the system. It’s essentially being able to visualize and unlock your potential without needed to train.
I have the same opinion as Zeragnon, the system is only meant to be a support, something that helps him bypass training and discovery and just needs him to slowly make it his for the system to no longer have to support that power. He can probably learn how to cook and the cook slot in the living tree will activate.

It would have made sense to make it into Status Window instead.
