LPPD Chapter 71 The Legend of the Prophet (2x)

If it could fill its stomach, who would want to go hungry?

Although the positive emotions produced by the fake humans at the hotel and Dawn Camp were now enough to keep it from starving, Indeedee really did miss the Berry salads of the Pokémon world.

After hesitating for a moment, Indeedee nodded.

“Indeedee”

(I’ll help protect our Berries.)

Looking at Indeedee’s earnest little face, Lu Li mentally gave himself a thumbs-up.

Indeedee successfully lured over.

Although he still hadn’t successfully caught it, Indeedee was now a Pokémon on their side.

If he could lure Mimikyu over as well, then migrating to Juzi University in the future would be much safer.

Looking at the sapling in the flowerpot, Lu Li prayed inwardly, “I hope this is an Oran Berry tree.”

Indeedee circled the flowerpot, observing it continuously. In the end, Indeedee reluctantly let out a cry.

“Indeedee”

(Remember to protect this tree. If there’s any danger, remember to notify me immediately.)

“You can come over and check on it every day. Teleporting straight here is pretty convenient, and you don’t need to knock every time you come.”

Lu Li took the opportunity to draw their relationship even closer.

Indeedee, whose mentality was as simple as that of an ordinary college student, naturally failed to see through Lu Li’s layers of scheming.

Indeedee was even quite happy inside, because Lu Li didn’t seem to treat it like an “outsider” at all.

“Indeedee”

Indeedee nodded and made an OK gesture. It was something it had learned from other humans after coming to this world.

Indeedee stayed for a while before leaving, saying that it would come back tomorrow, or perhaps later that evening, to take another look.

After seeing Indeedee off, Lu Li entered the Pokémon training phase again.

Feebas was still the same as before. Aside from its proficiency with Tackle improving, there weren’t any other changes.

Kakuna, meanwhile, had stopped practicing Harden and was instead accumulating energy in preparation for evolution.

Beedrill!

Even in the Pokémon world, Beedrill were Trainer killers; of course, that was when they appeared in swarms.

After leaving the two Pokémon at home, Lu Li went to the cafeteria for breakfast. To be precise, it should have been brunch.

After getting his food, Lu Li found an empty corner and sat down.

Lu Li had barely sat down when Fatty Lei took the seat opposite him.

Lu Li looked at Fatty Lei speechlessly. This guy was obviously waiting for him. They somehow managed to run into each other at almost every meal.

Fatty Lei asked in confusion, “Brother Lu, why don’t you eat at the other cafeteria?”

“There’s another cafeteria?” Lu Li stared at Fatty Lei blankly.

“You didn’t know?” Fatty Lei also looked at Lu Li in surprise.

Lu Li shook his head blankly.

“It’s like this. The people from the Scavenging Team don’t eat at the same cafeteria as us. I heard the other cafeteria serves three meals every day, and the food is better and more plentiful than here. They even get alcohol with every meal,” Fatty Lei explained in a lowered voice.

Lu Li asked in confusion, “Sister Jun doesn’t do anything about that?”

Fatty Lei replied in a matter-of-fact tone, “Hey, Sister Jun agreed to it in the first place. The death rate in the Scavenging Team is too high. To attract more people to join, Sister Jun had no choice but to improve the Scavenging Team’s benefits.”

Lu Li nodded thoughtfully. He didn’t think there was anything wrong with what Jun Shutong was doing.

After all, the people in the Scavenging Team risked their lives going out to search for supplies. Surely they weren’t doing it for love and justice?

Lu Li also remembered that Jun Shutong seemed to have mentioned this to him before, but he hadn’t paid much attention at the time because the food here was pretty good too, and it was closer to where he lived.

“Then why didn’t you go?” Lu Li teased.

Fatty Lei said somewhat embarrassedly, “I’m not qualified, am I?”

“If you want to eat at the high-end cafeteria, you have to have made an outstanding contribution to the camp, like going out to search for supplies. I’ve barely gone outside at all, so I’d be too embarrassed to shamelessly go there and freeload a meal.” Fatty Lei was quite clear-headed about his own standing.

Lu Li nodded.

Although Fatty Lei was one of the camp’s administrators, when it came to contributions to the camp, he really couldn’t compare with the members of the Scavenging Team.

People died in Dawn Camp almost every day, but most of those who died were from the Scavenging Team. Based on that alone, there was nothing wrong with them getting special meals.

“By the way, there’s something else.” Fatty Lei lowered his voice.

“What is it?” Lu Li asked. He had always relied on Fatty Lei to learn about what was happening in the camp.

When it came to knowing the situation inside the camp, even Jun Shutong might not necessarily know as much as Fatty Lei.

“Today, at the exit of Emergency Exit No. 7, someone deliberately splashed a lot of blood around and even threw some severed limbs and chunks of flesh there. The person who discovered it threw up on the spot.”

“Now the people from the Scavenging Team think it was done by people from Demon Camp. Sister Jun is furious too. She’s probably still angry even now.”

After explaining, Fatty Lei also joined in with shared indignation. “Old Xu was right. Those people from Demon Camp are really beneath contempt. All they know how to do is use these dirty, despicable tricks.”

Lu Li asked in return, “But they did manage to disgust us, didn’t they?”

Fatty Lei sighed as well and admitted helplessly, “There’s nothing we can do about that. When it comes to seeing who can sink lower, our people really can’t compare with those from Demon Camp.”

Lu Li didn’t quite agree.

If it was simply a matter of seeing who had the lower bottom line, there were plenty of people in Dawn Camp who could come up with even more vicious tricks.

It was only because there was a leader with relatively strong principles keeping everyone in check. Otherwise, the more likely outcome would be both sides tormenting each other until they destroyed one another.

But that was also part of humanity’s darker nature. Even under circumstances like these, some people still didn’t forget to eliminate those they considered outsiders.

“Don’t worry. They won’t be able to act arrogant for much longer,” Lu Li said with extraordinary confidence.

Kakuna might evolve today or tomorrow. Once Kakuna evolved, it would only need a day to get used to its new body. When that time came, Demon Camp’s end would arrive.

Seeing how confident Lu Li looked, Fatty Lei lowered his voice and asked, “Brother Lu, did you really tame a demon beast?”

“Guess,” Lu Li said meaningfully.

Fatty Lei grinned smugly. “I’m guessing that rumor must be true. After all, you’ve always been like a prophet.”

“A prophet?”

Hearing that, Lu Li’s expression shifted slightly as he repeatedly weighed those two words in his mind.

Fatty Lei wasn’t exactly wrong. Compared with the natives of this world, he really was like a prophet who knew how things would develop in advance. Perhaps one day he might even truly become a savior.

Lu Li continued asking, “Has anything else been happening in the camp lately?”

“Yes. A lot, actually.”

After that, Fatty Lei shared quite a bit more gossip.

For example, there was a woman who had recently hooked up with a young man from the Scavenging Team. Her previous boyfriend had died just a few days earlier. The man had gone out searching for supplies and lost his life, and she immediately moved on to someone else without any gap in between.

Incidentally, that woman’s former boyfriend was one of the victims who had been crushed to death by people from Demon Camp.

As for her immediately getting a new boyfriend, Lu Li didn’t despise or look down on her for it.

“What about you? Hasn’t anyone deliberately tried to cling to you guys?” Lu Li teased.

Fatty Lei rubbed the bridge of his nose somewhat embarrassedly. Of course there had been. After all, he was still one of the camp’s administrators and could often go to the kitchen and secretly get a few extra things.

“Brother Lu, to tell you the truth, I already have two girlfriends now,” Fatty Lei explained quietly.

Lu Li: “???”

No way! You b*stard are living this well? Is that even right?

Lu Li was completely dumbfounded, staring wide-eyed at Fatty Lei.

“That might not necessarily be a good thing. Maybe both his girlfriends are ugly?” Lu Li comforted himself inwardly.

At that moment, Fatty Lei waved toward a table behind him.

“You two, come over for a moment. I’ll introduce Brother Lu to you.”

Before long, two women around twenty years old sat down beside Fatty Lei.

The two of them spoke somewhat stiffly, “Hello, Brother Lu.”

Lu Li:

This damn fatty is eating this well?

Lu Li admitted he was a little envious. Although Fatty Lei’s two girlfriends couldn’t be considered exceptionally beautiful, before the apocalypse they would still have counted as solid seventy-point little beauties.

Through their conversation, Lu Li also learned the story of Fatty Lei and his two young girlfriends.

Before the apocalypse, the two had been small-time streamers. When Pokémon descended, they had been working at Xinghai Residential Complex across the street.

After holding out for a week, the people from that livestreaming company finally joined Dawn Camp.

That livestreaming company had quite a lot of female streamers, and when the young men in Dawn Camp saw so many beautiful women joining the camp, they had been pretty excited at the time.

The reason these two women were willing to stay with Fatty Lei was because he could give each of them two extra boiled eggs every day, along with luxury items such as cosmetics and skincare products.

To Lu Li, these things were actually pretty cheap, but it was precisely these cheap things that made two women who had been streamers before the apocalypse willing to stay with the plain-looking Fatty Lei.

Considering that he and Fatty Lei had a pretty good relationship, Lu Li deliberately gave Fatty Lei a reminder as well.

“Take it easy and remember to keep a low profile. After all, sometimes people don’t resent having little so much as they resent others having more.”

Fatty Lei quickly nodded and explained, “Don’t worry, Boss. We’re usually pretty low-key. Ahua and Meirun normally squeeze into the women’s dormitory with everyone else.”

Because of Mimikyu, everyone now knew that the camp’s safety level had increased, and those with privileges had already begun living separately.

For example, An Kang’s family lived together in a separate store, while members of the Scavenging Team lived in private dormitories. Some squad leaders even had rooms of their own.

But the one with the best living conditions was still Lu Li. He occupied the storefronts of three shops all by himself.

However, Lu Li’s place was close to the aquarium, so the others in the camp weren’t particularly envious. After all, in Dawn Camp, the truly desirable location was near the arcade.

Although everyone was afraid of the ghost demon beast, if that ghost demon beast happened to be your backer, then that was a completely different matter.

“I’m telling you, the captain of Scavenging Team One already has four lovers in the camp. Everyone knows about it. Even Sister Jun just turns a blind eye to the whole thing,” Fatty Lei gossiped in a lowered voice.

After saying this, Fatty Lei waggled his eyebrows and began egging him on. “Brother Lu, do you want to—”

“No! I don’t need a woman right now.” Lu Li hurriedly stopped Fatty Lei.

What a joke!

Was Little Beauty not appealing enough, or was Little Yellow not handsome enough?

Even taking ten thousand steps back, finding a girlfriend in the apocalypse when there was no real emotional foundation between them would be worse than finding Indeedee.

If he had to spend effort maintaining a relationship either way, why wouldn’t he choose the option with better value? Besides, right now his mind was completely occupied with surviving and becoming stronger. He had no time at all for romance.

Of course, if it was Jun Shutong, then that might not be entirely out of the question. After all, that could be considered an alliance between two strong parties.

Fatty Lei was somewhat surprised to hear this. He hadn’t expected that there were actually men in this world who weren’t interested in women.

Could it be—

Fatty Lei’s gaze toward Lu Li instantly became wary.

He had heard that his round face and full beard were apparently quite popular with a certain crowd over in Chengdu. Could it be—

Fatty Lei suddenly shuddered. The strange thought had only just surfaced before he forcefully cut it off, no longer daring to think any further.

“No, Brother Lu definitely isn’t that kind of person!” Fatty Lei vigorously shook his head, tossing all that dirty nonsense out of his mind.

Still unwilling to give up, Fatty Lei asked, “Brother Lu, you really won’t consider it?”

“No.” Lu Li decisively shook his head.

“There’s a major streamer from Ahua’s company with tens of millions of followers. She’s currently staying with Sister Jun, and she’s still single. You really won’t consider it?” Fatty Lei persisted, continuing to encourage him.

“I already have someone to devote my feelings to. As for physical needs, so far I haven’t had the mind to think about those things either.” Lu Li stubbornly shook his head.

Lu Li was even beginning to wonder whether there was some kind of reproductive isolation between him and normal people.

After all, from a certain perspective, he was no longer a normal human being. At the very least, he was no longer a normal human of this world.

After hearing Lu Li’s explanation, Fatty Lei instantly came to a realization. “I understand, Brother Lu. When I get the chance, I’ll sound things out for you.”

Lu Li rolled his eyes at Fatty Lei.

You understand what?

Speechless, Lu Li stopped gossiping with Fatty Lei. After all, gossip stopped being fun once the topic turned to himself.

“I still have things to do. I’m leaving first.” After saying that, Lu Li stood up and left the cafeteria.

After Lu Li left, Meirun also began subtly probing for information about him.

“Brother Lei, was that the camp’s deputy leader? I heard he’s already mastered supernatural power?”

“That’s right. I’ll tell you two, but don’t spread it around. They say Brother Lu has already tamed a demon beast and obtained the power of a demon beast,” Fatty Lei said in a lowered voice, showing off.

The two women’s eyes flickered slightly when they heard this. In Dawn Camp, most of the rumors they had heard were related to Lu Li.

For example, he had reached an understanding with the ghost demon beast through the sacrifice plan, befriended the demon beast at the hotel, rescued the leader and the camp’s Scavenging Team, and even solved the camp’s water crisis.

There were already many legends about Lu Li in Dawn Camp. He rarely interfered with the camp’s affairs, but no one in the entire camp dared to underestimate him.

In terms of prestige alone, Lu Li’s reputation had now even surpassed Jun Shutong’s.

Some people in the camp had privately complained about Jun Shutong, saying things like she was too kindhearted, or resenting her for having too strong a sense of responsibility and always dragging others into danger with her.

But opinions of Lu Li were generally positive. On one hand, every time Lu Li acted, it was basically equivalent to extending the camp’s life. On the other hand, Lu Li truly didn’t interfere in anything.

Back when he had first proposed the sacrifice plan, there really had been some people in the camp who objected. But after that responsibility fell on Zhao Zhu and the others, all that remained among the people in the camp toward Lu Li was gratitude.
