LPPD Chapter 64 Hearing About the Starter Trio

There was no median strip on the road between the mall and Anke Residential Complex, which meant there were no Pokémon like Caterpie or Weedle in that area.

And most Flying-type Pokémon preyed on Bug-type Pokémon. Because of that, although the road separating the two areas was the widest, it was actually the safest.

After confirming that there were no Flying-type Pokémon circling overhead, Lu Li waved to the people behind him.

“Quickly!”

After saying that, Jun Shutong led everyone in a sprint toward the other side.

The road was wide, but it was only about twenty meters across.

The group quickly crossed the road and entered a restaurant inside Anke Residential Complex.

Lu Li slowed his pace and walked at the back of the group, his back tense as he remained constantly on guard against a possible surprise attack from above.

Jun Shutong muttered, “It feels pretty safe.”

Zhao Limin calmly said, “That’s because we got lucky. If crossing the road weren’t so dangerous, I would’ve come over to the mall looking for opportunities a long time ago.”

“Next, we’ll move along the walls. We’ll go to Mr. Zhao’s home first, and then we’ll search the villas for supplies,” Lu Li said.

“Besides watching out for the flying demon beasts in the sky, we also need to be careful of those people from the Demon Camp,” Zhao Limin reminded them.

Zhao Limin’s words instantly piqued everyone’s curiosity.

“Demon Camp?” Jun Shutong looked at him.

Zhao Limin nodded and explained, “The camp in the residential area of Anke Residential Complex. Those guys have recruited a lot of residents from the neighborhood. I heard their camp already has more than four hundred people.”

Jun Shutong asked in surprise, “That many people? How are they feeding them all?”

After all, Dawn Camp was already struggling with just over two hundred people, yet a camp as vicious as the Demon Camp could somehow support more than four hundred.

“Because those guys emptied several neighborhood supermarkets and moved all the supplies into their camp. More importantly, the Demon Camp doesn’t provide everyone with three meals a day.”

Having witnessed how the Demon Camp operated, Zhao Limin had always felt that Jun Shutong was an idealist in the apocalypse. She actually provided two meals a day to the elderly and children in the camp.

Two meals a day!

Even more absurdly, when Dawn Camp had first been established, they had actually provided three meals a day.

What kind of apocalyptic utopia was this?

It was precisely because of this that Zhao Limin wanted to take his wife and mother and join Dawn Camp.

Jun Shutong frowned and asked, “Then what about the elderly and children in that camp?”

Zhao Limin replied, “There are no elderly people or children in the Demon Camp.”

After hearing this, not only Jun Shutong, but everyone else fell silent as well.

Jun Shutong opened her mouth, but in the end, all the anger and unwillingness in her heart could only turn into a silent sigh.

Jun Shutong said in an icy voice, “There’s no need to worry about the Demon Camp. They’re no threat to us.”

The reason Jun Shutong said this was entirely because Lu Li possessed a power humans should never have been able to control—demon beasts.

Worried that Jun Shutong might get hotheaded and decide to play the hero again, Lu Li quickly changed the subject. “Let’s head to the villa district first.”

Jun Shutong knew where to draw the line as well. She had no intention of morally pressuring Lu Li, and simply nodded. “We’ll do as Lu Li says.”

As someone familiar with the area, Zhao Limin began leading the way. “Everyone, follow me. I know a relatively safe route.”

The group soon arrived at the villa district.

Most of the villa doors were locked. Only a small number were open, but through those open doors, everyone could see traces of blood inside some of the houses.

“The people from the Demon Camp came here to loot supplies. Most of the people who heard knocking and opened their doors didn’t end up well.” Zhao Limin, walking at the front, explained why some of the villa doors were open.

Lu Li asked curiously, “Did no demon beasts spawn in the villa district?”

Zhao Limin replied, “There were some. When the demon beasts first descended, there was a group of turtle demon beasts with saplings and large trees growing on their backs. But later, that group of turtle demon beasts seemed to migrate somewhere else.”

Lu Li’s eyes lit up.

The turtle demon beasts Zhao Limin described, with saplings or large trees growing on their backs, were very likely Torterra series Pokémon. That was the Grass-type Starter Pokémon from the fourth generation.

Moreover, Torterra were relatively gentle. If this were an apocalypse beast-taming novel, Torterra would basically be natural mobile fortresses.

Most importantly, the caretaker book had descriptions of Torterra. Torterra were not carnivorous Pokémon. They did not eat meat.

Wild Torterra generally fed on Berries. When there were no Berries available, Torterra could use Synthesis or absorb the nutrients they needed directly from the earth.

However, considering that the Torterra that had descended in the villa district were an entire group, Lu Li temporarily suppressed the idea of capturing a Turtwig.

“My house is just up ahead. I’m not sure why, but recently, there seem to be fewer incidents of flying demon beasts attacking humans,” Zhao Limin said as he pointed ahead.

Old Xu, hearing this, sighed as well. “That’s a good thing for us humans. At least now we finally have some hope of scraping out an existence in the cracks.”

“Yeah.” Zhao Limin nodded in deep agreement.

The group soon arrived at Zhao Limin’s home. It was a villa covering at least three hundred square meters.

Looking at the luxurious villa in front of him, Old Xu couldn’t help but exclaim, “Brother Zhao, before the apocalypse, this villa must have cost at least eight figures, right?”

Zhao Limin modestly shook his head. “It wasn’t that expensive. This villa was actually only a little over eight million.”

“I’ll ring the bell.” As he spoke, Zhao Limin walked to the front door and pressed the doorbell.

Before long, a woman’s voice came from the intercom.

“Who is it?”

“Darling, it’s me,” Zhao Limin hurriedly replied.

The woman’s voice was filled with surprise and joy. “Honey! You’re finally back. Mom and I were worried sick about you.”

“Mm. Open the door first. I brought quite a few guests with me. It isn’t safe for everyone to stay outside,” Zhao Limin urged.

Hearing Zhao Limin’s words, the woman inside the villa hesitated.

“Honey, who are these guests of yours?” the woman asked cautiously.

Zhao Limin quickly said, “They’re from Dawn Camp across the road. They came to bring us supplies.”

“Okay, I’ll open the door right away.”

After hearing that they were from Dawn Camp, the woman clearly let out a sigh of relief.

The gate quickly opened, and a middle-aged woman wearing sportswear ran out of the villa.

Facing everyone’s gazes, Zhao Limin smiled and explained, “Dawn Camp has quite a reputation among the survivors around here. Everyone knows Officer Jun is a good person, and Dawn Camp is a good place too.”

Lu Li raised his eyebrows in surprise and turned to glance at Jun Shutong.

He hadn’t expected Dawn Camp’s reputation to have actually spread, and for it to be a good reputation at that.

The reaction of Zhao Limin’s wife said it all. The moment she heard they were from Dawn Camp, she had actually opened the door without hesitation.

If Zhao Limin had said he had brought people from the Demon Camp, the woman inside might even have suspected that Zhao Limin had been kidnapped and was being threatened.

Jun Shutong gently nudged Lu Li’s arm with her elbow, her eyes curved with a smug smile as she said, “See? Even in the apocalypse, treating people well still has its benefits.”
