After watching this battle, Lu Li realized something else.
Pokémon were different from animals. They might not even count as carbon-based lifeforms, but rather as energy lifeforms.
Secondly, Raticate did not seovem to have any area-of-effect attacks, which was good news.
What Lu Li feared most right now was encountering the kind of Pokémon whose battles could affect a huge area simply through the aftermath of their clashes.
After quietly sneaking back into the camp, Lu Li wrote down all of today’s observations and discoveries in his notebook one by one.
Some of the discoveries were hypotheses that still needed to be verified, while others were already confirmed facts.
Those discoveries that were merely hypotheses would require further verification. Right now, he only has Feebas as his single Pokémon. Once he has more Pokémon in the future, he would be able to verify them further.
Knock, knock, knock.
A soft knocking sound rang out.
Hearing the knock, Lu Li opened the door.
Fatty Lei’s face, piled with a fawning smile, immediately entered Lu Li’s view.
“Brother Lu, why didn’t you say anything when you got back? I was already getting ready to send people out to look for you,” Fatty Lei said.
Lu Li replied calmly, “I made some new discoveries, so I came back to record them.”
“This is for you.”
Fatty Lei first glanced furtively around before mysteriously stuffing a pack of canned beer into Lu Li’s hands.
“What’s this?”
Lu Li deliberately looked at the beer in his hands with surprise.
Thinking Lu Li suspected him of embezzlement, Fatty Lei hurriedly explained, “Don’t worry, this isn’t embezzled. I exchanged contribution points for it.”
Lu Li nodded, then accepted the beer.
He preferred drinking ice-cold beer, but unfortunately, the only freezer was in the kitchen, and it was stuffed full of various kinds of meat.
Although the camp had electricity, it relied on several diesel generators, and all of the generators were concentrated in the kitchen area. Even Jun Shutong’s room did not receive the slightest bit of power.
Water was precious in the camp, but gasoline was just as precious as water.
Fatty Lei thoughtfully added, “Brother Lu, two bottles in there are chilled. When it’s time to eat later, I’ll have someone bring your meal over here.”
Hearing this, Lu Li raised an eyebrow.
After Jun Shutong’s pistol ran out of bullets, Fatty Lei had become considerably more attentive toward him.
However, Lu Li did not say much, nor did he look down on Fatty Lei because of it.
“Sister Jun’s pistol is out of bullets. Do the people in the camp, especially those on the Scavenging Team, have any other thoughts?” Lu Li asked with narrowed eyes.
Fatty Lei shook his head. “Not at the moment. After all, Sister Jun is still very popular.”
The reason Jun Shutong had won people’s support before was not merely because she had a gun in her hand. More importantly, whenever they went out scavenging, she was always willing to stay behind and cover everyone else’s retreat.
But now Jun Shutong no longer went out to search for supplies. It was fine at first, but once enough time passed, someone would definitely start having complaints.
Still, that did not matter.
By the time that happened, the power in his hands would already be enough to completely overwhelm everyone in the camp.
Lu Li patted Fatty Lei on the shoulder and reassured him, “Stay close to Sister Jun. She’ll be fine.”
Fatty Lei nodded with a complicated expression.
He had deliberately come over today bearing a gift partly because he wanted to probe Lu Li’s intentions and see whether Lu Li had any thoughts of taking advantage of the situation to seize power.
Seeing that Lu Li had no intention of doing so, Fatty Lei also breathed a sigh of relief.
If possible, he did not want turmoil to break out in the camp either.
After sending Fatty Lei away, Lu Li looked at the beer in his hands and chuckled softly.
After setting the beer aside, Lu Li got busy again.
…
At the same time, Indeedee was busy as well.
Powerful Pokémon were everywhere, but finding a Pokémon weaker than Feebas was still extremely difficult.
This Weedle was too well-developed and robust. The fake human’s Feebas probably couldn’t beat it.
Indeedee used Teleport again and arrived somewhere else.
This Sunkern was pretty good, but the fake human didn’t have a Sun Stone, so it wasn’t suitable for him right now either.
Indeedee disappeared from the spot again.
Kricketot? This probably didn’t meet the fake human’s requirements.
“Huh~ What kind of Pokémon is this? It’s even Psychic-type.” Indeedee curiously examined the strange Pokémon in front of it.
It could sense that this Pokémon was very weak, but this was the first time it had ever encountered such a weak Psychic-type Pokémon.
“It looks kind of like a nebula, and its body seems to be made of gas. This probably doesn’t meet the fake human’s requirements either.”
After observing it for a while, Indeedee disappeared from the spot again.
“Achoo~”
Lu Li sneezed, then pinched his nose.
“Is my rhinitis acting up again? No, this feels more like I just missed some heaven-defying opportunity.” Lu Li muttered in confusion.
Indeedee also discovered several Pichu, but all of those Pichu were very strong, so Indeedee did not stop for them.
After searching through several Weedle colonies, Indeedee had almost traveled across more than half of Dihui City. In the end, it finally found a Weedle that met Lu Li’s requirements in a colony with three Weedle and seven Kakuna.
Indeedee looked somewhat awkwardly at that thin and tiny Weedle.
“Poor child. It looks like it only hatched after coming to this world. It’s never eaten its fill since birth. It’s this weak, so the fake human’s Feebas should be able to defeat it, right?”
With that thought, Indeedee used Confusion and lifted up the Weedle that was staring longingly at its older brothers and sisters as they gnawed on leaves.
Weedle moved very slowly, and it didn’t dare go to other trees to eat leaves, so it could only trail behind the larger Weedle and eat their “leftovers.”
Indeedee felt that this Weedle fit Lu Li’s requirements perfectly. It wasn’t strong, and its circumstances were pitiful.
If it didn’t intervene, this Weedle might eventually starve to death in this unfamiliar world.
Thinking this, Indeedee’s sense of guilt immediately lessened considerably.
It wasn’t abducting Weedle. It was saving this Weedle.
The skinny Weedle being taken away did not attract the attention of the other Weedle and Kakuna.
Some of the Weedle and Kakuna saw it, but they all chose to ignore it and continued chewing on leaves.
To them, having one less Weedle was better. That meant one less competitor.
Besides, being too thin and small actually gave a Weedle a greater survival advantage, because Pokémon that preyed on Weedle would definitely choose the plump, large ones first.
In the eyes of the larger Weedle, the skinny Weedle had no value whatsoever. It couldn’t even serve the purpose of drawing a predator’s attention away from them.
The Weedle forcibly restrained by Confusion did not resist either. For one thing, it simply didn’t have the strength to resist. For another, compared to starving to death, being killed outright actually seemed better.
The skinny Weedle knew that it had no future. It would never be able to form a cocoon, nor would it ever be able to break free of one and become a bee.
When it had first been born, it had once been full of anticipation for this world.
Later, all it wanted was to eat more leaves and quickly evolve into a powerful Beedrill.
After that, its dream became nothing more than filling its stomach. Just once would be enough. It didn’t want to die without ever knowing what it felt like to be full.
And now…
The skinny Weedle only wished that it could die quickly and cleanly, preferably without pain.
