Although she had already accepted it in her heart, Jun Shutong was still somewhat unconvinced as she nodded.
For everyone else, being able to stay safely in the camp was obviously the best option, but someone as overwhelmingly responsible as Jun Shutong did not see it that way.
Lu Li did not care what she thought, though. Jun Shutong only needed to listen to him.
Only with someone as responsible and kind as Jun Shutong managing the camp would the atmosphere remain good, and only then would Indeedee like it here.
In a certain sense, Indeedee and Jun Shutong were actually bound together.
If Jun Shutong did not serve as the leader, then Lu Li would have no choice but to take over. The problem was that training Feebas every day already left him with no spare time, and he would soon have a second Pokémon as well. How could he possibly have that much attention and time left to manage the camp?
The meeting soon ended, and Jun Shutong deliberately asked Lu Li to stay behind.
After bringing Lu Li back to her office, Jun Shutong gestured for him to sit down.
Seeing how polite she was being, even looking a little embarrassed, Lu Li could roughly guess what Jun Shutong was about to say.
“Sister Jun, if there’s something you need, just say it. If it’s something I can do, I definitely won’t refuse.” Lu Li reassured her in advance.
“It’s like this. I originally planned to go with you to Anke Camp and capture those criminals there to feed the ghost demon beast.”
“But you said during the meeting that I’m not allowed to go out and take risks, so I can only ask you to take some people and deal with that group at Anke. Back when I still had bullets in my gun, I could have handled this myself, but now…”
Jun Shutong did not finish the sentence, but the meaning behind her words was obvious.
Lu Li frowned and began thinking.
He did not want to expose the existence of the Poké Ball so soon. At the very least, before his second Pokémon developed enough combat power, he did not want anyone else to know that he possessed a Poké Ball capable of capturing Pokémon.
As the saying went, it was easy to dodge the spear in the open, but hard to avoid a stab in the dark.
Before the Poké Balls were exposed, the most he had to deal with were Pokémon that treated him as prey. Once the Poké Balls were exposed, he might have to start guarding against the people around him as well.
Feebas already had difficulty moving on land and could only be used in emergencies at critical moments. In truth, the role it could play was extremely limited.
Lu Li cautiously said, “Wait a few more days. For now, have everyone in the camp stop going out and spend a few days resting and recovering.”
Jun Shutong frowned.
There were more and more people in the camp. If they only consumed supplies without replenishing them, their stockpile would eventually run out, and that day would come very soon.
But if Lu Li was unwilling to act, then sending the Scavenging Teams to Anke would be rather dangerous. At that point, the Scavenging Teams would not only have to face the threat of demon beasts, but also guard against attacks from their own kind.
“How many days exactly?” Jun Shutong asked.
“Five days.” After pondering for a moment, Lu Li gave a relatively conservative estimate.
If Indeedee still had not found him a suitable Weedle after five days, then he would have no choice but to expose the Poké Ball ahead of schedule.
Hearing that they only had to wait five days, Jun Shutong also breathed a sigh of relief.
“Then during these five days, I’ll have everyone thoroughly search the mall again,” Jun Shutong said.
Lu Li also made his own request. “I need more nutritional supplements and health products. Ideally, I want all the nutritional supplements and health products on the second floor moved into the camp.”
High-concentration, high-dose nutritional supplements could completely satisfy a Pokémon’s hunger. Although the consumption rate was enormous, at this stage, nothing was more important than being able to keep Pokémon fed.
Lu Li roughly calculated that, according to the rules of the Pokémon world, it should only take another year before all kinds of Berry trees began appearing in this world.
During this year, he could rely on those nutritional supplements and health products to raise Pokémon with combat ability. That way, in the future, he could use Pokémon to protect those Berry trees, or compete with other Pokémon for Berries.
“You want that many nutritional supplements to feed the demon beast?” Jun Shutong knowingly asked.
Lu Li nodded and explained, “For demon beasts, the nutritional value of food in our world is far too low. Only those nutritional supplements barely contain enough energy.”
Jun Shutong probed, “Speaking of which, with your current strength, can you deal with those rats in Basement 1?”
Hearing this, Lu Li decisively shook his head and said, “Don’t even think about it. Those rat demon beasts live in groups.”
Rattata were much stronger than Weedle. Unless his Weedle could evolve into Beedrill in the future, there was no way he would venture into the supermarket on Basement 1.
The supermarket on Basement 1 was an enormous hypermarket. If they could completely loot the supplies inside, the camp would have enough resources to last at least half a year, perhaps even an entire year.
The troublesome part was that Rattata were social demon beasts. If you hit one Rattata, an entire group of Raticate might come looking for revenge. For example, even if he had a Beedrill in the future, he still would not want to go up against that group of Raticate.
Besides, that place had already been occupied by Raticate. Given what he knew about Raticate’s appetite, the supplies there might have been completely consumed long ago.
Once he had Beedrill, the most he would do was go over and take a look, rather than deliberately fight the Raticate over food.
Worried that Jun Shutong’s expectations of him were too high, Lu Li deliberately explained, “A demon beast that could be tamed by someone as powerless as me is definitely at the very bottom among all demon beasts. Right now, I can still bully ordinary people, but if I really had to deal with demon beasts, I wouldn’t be able to do it.”
Lu Li did not want Jun Shutong getting overconfident when even he himself had not.
Jun Shutong also nodded. Lu Li’s words did make sense. A demon beast that could be tamed by an ordinary person like Lu Li—how strong could it possibly be?
The destructive power of that fish demon beast was indeed terrifyingly strong to ordinary people, but among demon beasts, Lu Li’s demon beast was definitely at the bottom.
After saying goodbye to Jun Shutong, Lu Li returned to his room.
His room had become even larger now. Previously, the shop he lived in and the neighboring shop had been separated by a wall. The neighboring shop was used to store the nutritional supplements and health products.
But now, Feebas had directly smashed through the dividing wall, connecting the two rooms together.
Lu Li also could not keep letting Feebas use walls for training. If it accidentally knocked down a load-bearing wall, that would be a real disaster.
If the Raticate failed to gnaw through the load-bearing walls, only for Feebas to smash one down instead, that would truly be a sin.
Lu Li could only have Feebas practice Tackle against empty air. What Feebas needed to work on now was the accuracy and flexibility of Tackle. Power was not something it needed to pursue at this stage.
After all, one Tackle at maximum power was enough to leave Feebas completely spent.
…………
The nineteenth day since Pokémon descended.
Early in the morning, Lu Li was awakened by the walkie-talkie.
“Brother Lu, something happened over here. I think I need to report it to you.” Fatty Lei’s voice came through the walkie-talkie.
