LPPD Chapter 51 The Alakazam Research Group

Jun Shutong nodded in approval. If humans really could tame demon beasts, then perhaps that would be a good thing.

But if it was only a special case, that would still be good, just not quite as good.

Until she had absolute confidence, Jun Shutong did not dare let anyone else try it. After all, trying something like this really could get you killed.

“Please try not to tell anyone else about this. I’m afraid some people who can’t think straight might take the risk in desperation,” Lu Li said uneasily.

Anyone with even a little ambition would pursue power, even if it was the power of demon beasts, especially now that the world had fallen into an apocalypse.

If other people really learned about this, some of them might also get the idea of adopting Pokémon.

Lu Li was not afraid of those people secretly taking in Pokémon—that kind of person would only harm themselves and others. What he was truly afraid of was someone bringing Pokémon that looked safe but were actually dangerous back to the camp.

………

The Xia’ya Continent.

Apari Military Base No. 13.

“Before the demon beasts descended, Apari Base No. 13 was an experimental base specializing in biological research.”

“But after the demon beasts descended, Apari Base No. 13 fell and was occupied by a group of yellow fox-like demon beasts.”

“Kid, your luck is terrible. You actually stumbled right into a place like this. But you’re lucky too. At least you can eat something good before you die,” an old man said in a calm tone.

The young man asked nervously, “You mean…?”

The old man glanced at him and replied expressionlessly, “Before the demon beasts descended, I was a researcher here. After they descended, now I’m the one being researched.”

Hearing this, the young man nervously looked around. It was a very cramped prison cell, with only him and the old man inside.

Seeing this, the old man spoke indifferently from the side. “Today is the seventeenth day since the demon beasts descended. Starting from the ninth day, those yellow fox demon beasts have taken away two prisoners every day. Unfortunately, none of them have ever come back.”

“Unfortunately, today should be this cell’s turn. And there are only the two of us in this cell right now. Which means…”

The old man did not finish the sentence, but the young man had already guessed his fate.

“No! I can’t die!”

“Let me out!”

“My little sister and the others are still waiting for me at home! They haven’t eaten for two days! They’re still waiting for me to bring something back!” Agitated, the young man rushed to the cell door, frantically pounding on the cold iron door.

The old man watched coldly from the side and said mockingly, “Stop shouting. If crying and begging were useful, do you think I would still be locked up in here?”

The young man did not listen and continued crying out.

But even after he cried himself hoarse, no one responded. Before long, only the young man’s sobbing remained in the cell.

In the central laboratory of the base, there was a Pokémon with a yellowish body, long whiskers, pointed and elongated ears, and a broad, smooth, gleaming forehead. It stared expressionlessly at the corpse on the operating table that had already lost all signs of life.

“What we can confirm is that these fake humans have no energy fluctuations whatsoever, yet they possess emotions and intelligence just like real humans.”

“So…”

The older-looking Alakazam continued, “These fake humans have not completed their evolution yet. What’s interesting, however, is that their genes are very peculiar. They seem to be adapting to elemental energy.”

“In other words, as long as they are given enough time, these fake humans will transform into real humans?” a younger Alakazam asked curiously.

“That will be an extremely long process. Biological evolution does not happen overnight. It requires a lengthy period of change. It may take a thousand years, or it may take ten thousand.”

The young Alakazam picked up where it left off. “But that’s assuming these fake humans can survive until then.”

The elderly Alakazam nodded, and an older female Alakazam also chimed in:

“The soul energy of these fake humans is very peculiar. Ever since we descended into this world, we’ve basically gone hungry every day, because this world is far too barren. Almost everything here has very little nutritional value.”

“But soul energy and emotional energy are relatively normal. That’s why those annoying Ghost-type Pokemon have benefited the most.”

The elderly female Alakazam’s tone was full of displeasure. Even before descending into this world, they had not exactly been good Pokémon. They were a Pokémon research group serving a dark organization.

So after arriving in this world, the first thing they did was research, and their primary research subjects were the humans of this world, because the humans here were the most unusual.

“So what should we do next?” the young Alakazam asked, looking completely lost.

Although their team was a research group, their main research direction had always been guided by others. But the people responsible for directing them had not come to this world, so after satisfying their curiosity, they lost their sense of direction.

The elderly Alakazam slowly said, “We can help these fake humans evolve into real humans and promote the emergence of the Trainer profession. But likewise, before these fake humans adapt, we could also eliminate all of them and completely erase the Trainer profession before it ever comes into existence.”

Hearing this, the Alakazam in the room immediately split into two factions.

The Alakazam that had previously been captured by Trainers were more inclined to promote the birth of the Trainer profession.

But those that had never been captured by Trainers hoped to erase the Trainer profession at its very roots.

One anti-human Alakazam said in a sinister tone, “The humans of this world are very fragile. We could develop a virus and poison every human in this world to death.”

“We should study how to help fake humans evolve into real humans. Don’t you think that would be a magnificent field of research? Don’t you want the Trainer profession to be born by our own hands?”

“Just think about it! We’re Pokémon, yet we would be the ones to create the Trainer profession!” The elderly female Alakazam spoke in a low voice, her tone highly persuasive.

Before descending into this world, she had had a Trainer, and that Trainer had even been a minor leader in the organization. As a result, she had a very favorable impression of Trainers and strongly hoped that the Trainer profession would emerge in this world.

The elderly Alakazam leading the group floated cross-legged in midair, sinking into deep thought.

It understood humans better than any of the other Alakazam, and it also knew that some things would happen regardless of whether they were involved.

The youngest Alakazam made the most practical suggestion.

“I think what we should be researching right now is how to fill our stomachs in this world.”

The two factions, which had been arguing just moments before, immediately reached a consensus after hearing the young Alakazam’s words.

“Did any of you bring Berries with you?” the elderly Alakazam hurriedly asked.

“I did bring a Payapa Berry. It’s one I didn’t finish eating last time.”

“I have several rare tree species in my personal storage space. I specially applied to obtain them for research before. Looks like they’ll finally come in handy.”

“I have Hearty Grains’ seeds here.”

All the Alakazam in the room simultaneously turned to look at the Alakazam holding the Hearty Grains’ seeds.
