APJ Chapter 447 War Machine – Genesect

Sasaki took the first step in his career with the Beasts Pirates at the quarry. He now found himself in a peculiar situation. He had joined the company out of admiration for the chairman, however, he overlooked a crucial detail – the chairman might not handle day-to-day affairs.

Due to his blind admiration for the chairman, he neglected the second-largest shareholder in the group, who is actually responsible for managing internal affairs of the group. This indirectly led to a less-than-favorable first impression from the internal CEO and department managers when he joined.

Though he didn’t lose anything that he deserves, he would likely face some challenges during his probationary period.

On the other side, Tesoro was prepared. Manaphy and Swamperts were ready for their journey. However, before their departure, there was another preparation to be made.

The Beasts Pirates had no plans for a permanent officer on Fishman Island. Mandrell, responsible for overseeing the transition between Sabaody Archipelago and the New World, took on this role part-time. Additionally, Mandrell was planning a project for a land-based Merfolk Paradise.

Beasts Pirates never prohibit their subordinates from handling personal matters during official business, as long as the reasons and gains are sufficient. Kaido is even willing to intervene and resolve more significant issues if needed. “Being low-key” was not in Kaido’s vocabulary; not taking the initiative to attack others was his version of being low-key.

Not planning to add officers didn’t mean they are not going to increase the military strength. Manaphy had proven through testing that, although he couldn’t command all Sea Kings like Poseidon, he could persuade them into leaving some areas. At least mining safety was not an issue.

Moreover, in the waters near Sabaody Archipelago, there were Gyarados that Manaphy could control – this is his military force in the sea. At the same time, there was a need to increase some ship’s armament.

For example, a certain Paleozoic Pokémon – Genesect.

Its Bug and Steel type gives it a decent resistance, although its resistance to fire is weak. However, it depends on what kind of fire it is. In addition, since its main activity range is going to be near Fishman Island, the marine environment can minimize the impact of fire.

Fear of fire had its limits; Groudon theoretically fears water, but ordinary water would just be evaporated by it. Type weakness is never absolute.

This included one-hit kill moves. In the game, Pinsir’s Guillotine could one-shot Groudon, but in reality, it might just trim the opponent’s toenails at most. Moreover, Groudon has demonstrated that even if one could fly, its Precipice Blades could still stab them.

Queen had sent the humanoid robots manufactured as per the requirements. It is much easier to have a carrier than to fabricate it out of thin air, but this is limited to Pokémon like Genesect, which inherently resembles an artificial robot.

The body wasn’t crucial; the main feature was the cannon on its back. The original Genesect didn’t have a laser cannon on its back; it was an extra tool added by the Team Plasma when reviving Genesect.

Though Genesect without the added cannon was still the strongest hunter of ancient times, having an extra weapon wasn’t a bad thing. They weren’t doing a coming-of-age ceremony; there was no need to be like Predators, refraining from using their high-tech weapons and opting for melee combat weapons.

Team Plasma’s research technology was extremely advanced. The researchers had equipped cannons on Genesect that could even switch cartridges to change their attack-types.

Elemental attacks weren’t a secret in the MADS research group. Judge, who researched Lineage Factor, has already integrated special powers into the combat system of his children’ through their battle suits. Queen has also incorporated these abilities into his own body modifications.

Moreover, due to Tropius’ abilities and the power unleashed when Pokémon use their moves, Queen developed a new weapon energy source. The special weapon he was tasked to create initially is based on this technology.

The reason for having him create samples isn’t because Arceus’ abilities are inferior to technology, but rather because that kind of technology is too primitive for him.

Switching attack-types was a mere thought for him. With such an ability, there was no need to research how to simulate his powers with technology.

In a sense, this kind of power was too low-level for him, so he didn’t bother researching such things.

Rather than expending effort on figuring out how to modify, it was more efficient to modify based on Queen’s existing research results, combining them with his own power to save time and efforts without compromising results.

Queen created a total of three prototype machines, all standing at around five meters tall, much larger than the original Genesect.

At this moment, both the Iron and Insect Plate were exerting their functions. Insect Plate imparted a soul of the living, while the Iron Plate perfected the outer shell and the weapon on the back.

As their power poured into them, the appearance of the experimental robots created by Queen began to change.

Legs and arms gradually transformed into segmented structures resembling insects, with slightly upward-curving hook-like claws at the end of the legs.

The head gradually changed into the shape of a flying saucer, and as the position of the twin eyes flashed with a crimson glow, Genesect arrived in this world.

“My lord.”

A slightly mechanical tone emanated from Genesect’s mouth. Although there number is more than one, Genesect is also a Mythical Pokémon. Another member had been added to the Arceus family, or rather, this time it was triplets.

“From now on, you are their leader. Your brother and sister will be born soon.”

Although the three robots had no significant differences, this one was standing relatively ahead, so it naturally became the eldest of the triplets.

Shortly after, all three Genesects developed their own consciousness. However, they were still not complete at the moment. Arceus’ power continued to condense, and thirty-three distinct colored cards appeared in the sky.

Meanwhile, beside the cannon on Genesect’s back, a slot opened, and those cassette-like small cards were integrated into their body.

These represented the power of the existing plates’ types – Fire, Normal, Dark, Water, Grass, Electric, Fairy, Rock, Dragon, Steel and Bug. Although they couldn’t switch their types, they could choose the attack mode of the light cannon.

Yamato’s Smeargle was nearby, numbering the Genesects. The leader was marked in red, and the other two were marked in purple. They also had additional serial numbers, GT0 to GT2, on their chests.

GT0 was the leader, and the remaining two were his brother and sister.

Following Arceus’ instructions, he planned to take his brother and sister to the target range to test the power of their weapons. The bodies of the three Genesects twisted and folded, quickly transforming into a shape resembling floating cannons.

This was their high-speed flight configuration, also the posture for chasing prey. However, to ordinary people, they appeared as transforming robots.

And for many pirates, a transforming robot held a strong allure.

“So cool, Dad, they’re so cool! I want one too, can I?”
