APJ Chapter 1342 My Dear Brother, It’s Been a Long Time (Part 2)

On their way back to the monastery, Lami’s unusually silent demeanor already revealed part of the answer.

“Sister… I want to go with you to the combat unit.”

“Didn’t we agree that you would be responsible for internal operations during this period and familiarize yourself with how this position works?”

“That was before… I…”

“You remembered, didn’t you?”

There were many causes of amnesia. Some cases resulted from severe hit to the head, while others were caused by the body’s own self-protection mechanisms. Now, Lami’s body seemed to have judged that she was safe enough, and with the addition of a slight stimulus, the memories from back then had returned.

While the Beasts Pirates were preparing for war, the Arceus Cult was also taking action.

Most affiliated nations still held favorable opinions of the World Government. After all, from a certain perspective, they were beneficiaries of the system. But the members of the Arceus Cult were different.

Non-affiliated nations, slaves—most of them came from such backgrounds. They each carried their own hatred toward the Celestial Dragons and the World Government. The coming war had become a holy war in their eyes.

Misu had originally entrusted the safe rear lines to Lami. After all, aside from Queen, the rear really was secure enough.

“Dad… Mom… They’re both gone. I don’t want to keep waiting. Someone has to pay for all this evil…”

Lami had only lost her memories; she had not become stupid. She had once learned about the cause of the Flevance incident from the perspective of an outsider. Because of the greed of other nobles for wealth, the people of an entire nation had ultimately become sacrificial victims.

And the Beasts Pirates had a simple principle: blood debts must be repaid in blood. Thus, Lami was no longer satisfied with the previous arrangement and had formed a new idea.

“People die in war.”

“To die in a holy war and return to the Lord’s embrace—isn’t that a fitting end as well?”

“I refuse. You shouldn’t go to the battlefield. That isn’t where you belong.”

“Sister, as long as they do not violate public morality, people have the right to pursue their own dreams. Do you intend to violate the doctrines yourself?”

“You’ve forgotten the sentence that follows it. You must bear the consequences of your own actions. You cannot create unnecessary trouble for others because of a moment of willfulness.”

“I can fight. I’m not some frail little girl. With this divine blessing bestowed by the Lord, ordinary attacks can’t even harm me.”

Lami’s reasoning was so sound that Misu had no grounds to stop her.

“Trafalgar Lami, Law is currently in Wano Country.”

Regaining her old memories did not mean losing the new memories she had accumulated over the years. The moment she remembered those events, the image of Law as a child had already overlapped with the adult Law she had seen.

However, Lami had not yet realized that Law had already entered Wano Country. Their brief meeting of eyes had merely made him seem somewhat familiar to her. After all, Lami had not been one of the viewers of that bet.

“What… did you say?”

“The doctor at the examination area earlier. The one whose only visible features were his eyes and whose voice sounded slightly muffled.”

With those hints, Law’s appearance finally matched the Law in Lami’s memories.

“His purpose in entering Wano Country was to assassinate Doflamingo. During the period when you had lost your memories, he…”

Misu briefly summarized the changes Law had undergone over the years. This was the account Law had once given to the Straw Hats, which Hercules had only recently reported.

Misu had originally intended to deal with Law’s situation before departing. With the great war approaching, she had merely wanted to protect both siblings.

Having raised Lami as her own daughter, she likewise regarded Law as a somewhat rebellious child. She had not yet used the merits she had earned back then, and no matter what happened, it would at least be enough to keep Law alive.

Now that Kaido’s bet had ended and Lami was being so insistent, having Law divert her attention was also a good idea.

Although the siblings had likewise not seen each other for a long time, they still cared deeply about one another. Thus, while Misu was not particularly worried that anything would go wrong between them, she still made new arrangements just in case.

In a brief instant, Lami had already realized what Law intended to do here. There was no doubt that attempting such a thing on the Beasts Pirates’ territory was extremely dangerous.

“No. I can’t let my brother do that…”

“You don’t want Law to do this because you understand the risks behind it. Likewise, I don’t want you to do this because I understand better than you what war means. Even a holy war will still involve bloodshed.

“This broadcast can show us Law’s location. Since you’re worried about your brother too, try stopping him from doing something so dangerous.”

After watching Lami leave, Misu took out another Den Den Mushi.

“Miss Shayna, this is Misu. I’d like to trouble you with something. Lami, she…

Yes, that’s right. I’m worried something might happen between the siblings, so please help keep an eye on them. Thank you. Understood.”

Shayna had not yet departed. After contacting such a reliable combatant, Misu finally felt reassured. Meanwhile, Lami, who intended to stop Law from doing something dangerous, had also completed her preparations.

“I’m sorry, Brother, but I don’t want you ending up in prison…”

Hercules had tried to stop Luffy from going to prison, but unfortunately, he had been unable to do so. Lami, however, was different. Her preparations were extremely thorough.

Some time later, just as Law was preparing to continue gathering intelligence, he encountered Lami on the outskirts.

“Miss Lami? What are you still doing here so late?”

“Brother, is it really appropriate for you to address me like that?”

“Miss Lami, what are you talking about…?”

“There was something wrong with me before, but now I remember. It’s been a long time, Brother.”

With that, Lami walked toward Law one step at a time. Law showed no intention of defending himself. He merely stood there, staring blankly at her as she embraced him.

“Lami, what… what are you doing?!”

The heartwarming scene did not last long. Law suddenly felt his body go limp as a wave of weakness spread from his back. In Lami’s hand was a piece of highly concentrated Seastone, which was currently pressed against his body.

In the original timeline, Stussy had used lipstick made from Seastone like a dagger and stabbed Rob Lucci. The power of the Seastone had caused even Lucci considerable trouble at the time, let alone the higher-concentration Seastone in Lami’s hand.

“You tricked me…”

“I’m sorry, Brother. But I really did remember who you are. And precisely because of that, I don’t want you doing something so dangerous. Come home with me.”

Lami’s body took on a liquid-like form, secreting a powerful hypnotic fluid from within. Law felt his eyelids gradually growing heavier.

But because of the Seastone, he was completely unable to activate his ability, while his weakened limbs could not break free from Lami.

“Brother, don’t worry. I won’t hurt you. Once you wake up, I’ll explain everything slowly.”

Law could no longer resist Lami’s ability. Carrying the sleeping Law on her back, Lami headed toward the monastery, while Shayna silently watched from the sky the entire time, until Lami returned inside.
