APJ Chapter 1313 A Person Who Should Not Exist in This World and a Pokémon That Should Not Exist in This World (Part 2)

At that moment, Clover stepped forward first. Life above Onigashima had been pretty good for him; his hairstyle was even gradually evolving toward a four-leaf clover. Before long, he might finally shed his three-leaf clover image.

“You are scholars! Not beggars on the street! What meaning is there in behaving like this?!”

Under Clover’s scolding, the scholars all began reflecting on their earlier behavior. Then he continued speaking to Barro.

“It’s getting late. Why not come rest temporarily at my humble home? I just happens to have a few things I’d like to ask you.”

“Professor! You can’t cut the line! We were here first!”

“Exactly! Seniority shouldn’t count!”

A man who had once faced deadly enemies without retreating even a single step, even in certain death situations, was left utterly at a loss by this group of scholars. In the end, Barro practically escaped in order to break free from their encirclement.

Those scholars were enthusiastic, polite, and stubborn at the same time, making the world feel far too unfamiliar to Barro.

The common knowledge of his era had somehow become priceless treasures in these people’s eyes. Even knowing he was eight hundred years in the future, he still could not understand such values.

“Good thing we changed professions early, wouldn’t you say?”

“Indeed. Now then, let us proceed with today’s topic. What exactly happens to Shuckle’s body while it brews beverages?”

The scholars researching Pokémon did not have much grand ambitions. They did not surround Barro asking endless questions, instead using time to gradually fill the gaps in their own knowledge.

In the end, Barro did not leave. He still went to Clover’s home because he wanted to hear from an archaeologist what exactly had happened in the past.

Ultimately, Clover used the method of “taking advantage of one’s seniority” to win against the other scholars, inviting Barro into his home for a special exchange session.

During this process, several difficult problems troubling Clover were easily solved. For example, interpretations of grammar in certain script, the meanings of some ancient symbols, and so on—all were clearly explained by Barro.

But the things Barro wanted to know did not go so smoothly.

“So you’re saying the blank 100 Years is something unknown?”

What Barro had told Arceus earlier concerned events from eight hundred years ago, while Arceus had spoken to Barro about the world eight hundred years later. Neither of them knew what had happened during the gap in between.

Barro, who wished to complete his understanding, hit a wall here.

“The World Government erased all of it and forbade anyone from researching those hundred years. We also don’t know what happened during that period. However, we can confirm that the World Government carried out large-scale racial extermination policies.

Buccaneers and your Lunarian race were both victims. Oh right, please take another look at this, does this pictographic text belong to some race from your era?”

Barro did not remain in Clover’s home for long, mainly because of that feeling of disconnect.

The way Clover looked at him was like he was staring at an encyclopedia, and some of the terminology Clover occasionally used was incomprehensible to Barro. So he declined Clover’s invitation to stay overnight. He had a feeling this old man had enough energy to chat with him all night long.

Barro flew upward, planning to find a sufficiently high place to calm himself, only to encounter a Pokémon running through the sky.

“A Lunarian? Are you heading back to the Reverse World? Then Shaymin will open the door for you.”

Shaymin, in its Sky Forme, noticed Barro and immediately opened an entrance for him without another word, sending him into the Lunarian settlement within the Reverse World.

Seeing those tribesmen who shared the same bloodline eased Barro’s mood slightly, but he still did not approach them.

After all, throughout history, the Lunarians had grown fewer and fewer, to the point where everyone left was related in some way.

Watching these blood-related people living together harmoniously instead made Barro uncertain about how he should join their conversations, so he merely watched them from afar instead of going over.

King and Avnisha happened to return at that moment. They had searched for a long time within the Reverse World. They had found both the Frankenstein Fruit and the Mimic-Mimic Fruit, but the Door-Door Fruit and Rage-Rage Fruit were nowhere to be seen.

By now, King had already received a message from Shayna that both Kaido and Arceus had returned to Wano Country, so they had temporarily halted the search.

“You are… Senior Barro, correct? Is something the matter?”

King could not understand why Barro was only watching from a distance. If this were merely some grandfather-level elder, King could still relate a little, but an ancestor from generations beyond that was beyond his experience.

“Nothing. I’m simply familiarizing myself with Lord Sacred Beast’s power. I do not wish to disturb them.”

“If you don’t mind, I should be able to help you. After all, we have a deeper understanding of Lord Sacred Beast’s power.”

What Barro meant by adapting to power referred to his rebirth itself, but King misunderstood it as something else entirely. Seeing King’s attitude, Barro did not bother correcting him and instead agreed.

“Then I’ll trouble you… young man.”

After thinking for a moment, Barro ultimately chose that form of address and followed them toward the training ground within the Reverse World.

At this point, Barro also possessed his own ability. He had originally wanted to master it as soon as possible, because his battle was not over yet. However, the form his ability took far exceeded King’s expectations.

At this moment, the wings on Barro’s back had already taken on a faint orange hue, while his body was covered in metal. Beneath his original wings, three additional pairs of new wings had appeared.

The new wings were not attached to his body, but floated around him like floating cannons. His body had also developed structures resembling mechanical vents.

Though he possessed a machine-like body, he was not Steel-type, but rather the paradox form of Volcarona.

Pokémon forms were ever-changing. This variation was not only reflected between different regions, but could even appear across different dimensions. In a distorted future timeline, people had observed a Pokémon that should not exist in a normal worldline—Iron Moth.
