APJ Chapter 1303 Linlin, I’ve Repaid Your Favor! (Part 1)

Previous ChapterNext Chapter

“Linlin, I’ve already had enough fun. In this state, you can’t even make me want to fight!”

Hassaikai swung to the side, knocking the Napoleon in Charlotte Linlin’s hand away. Although the flames coating the blade extended onto Kaido’s scales, they failed to cause any effect at all.

With a wave of Kaido’s arm, the flames were extinguished. To the current Kaido, flames of this level were nothing more than a fire to warm himself with.

Charlotte Linlin’s overall combat power had actually declined after losing her sanity. Against ordinary people, her crazed state made her seem even more terrifying, but against a stronger opponent like Kaido, mindless attacks without reason brought no increase in combat power whatsoever.

Kaido had already lost interest, but the current Charlotte Linlin could no longer listen to others. She was merely acting according to her subconscious instincts.

“Mama-Raid!”

After her weapon was knocked away, Charlotte Linlin leapt into the air. After completing several flips, Napoleon’s blade became wrapped in lightning once more as she slashed down toward Kaido below.

Boom!

A massive crack appeared on the ground, yet Kaido’s figure was nowhere to be seen. At this moment, Kaido had already stepped onto Flame Clouds and risen into the sky.

“Linlin, like a crazed beast… you really look ugly like this.”

At this moment, Charlotte Linlin’s eyes no longer held their usual clarity. Prometheus covered her back, forming a head of sinister flaming hair.

However, Charlotte Linlin paid no attention to any of this. She grabbed Prometheus directly and then thrusted the blade’s tip into the Zeus below, causing Napoleon to pierce through Zeus’s body.

It wasn’t that she had gone so mad she was attacking her own Homies, but rather that she had created a new combo technique.

After combining Prometheus’s flame power with Zeus’s lightning power, Napoleon had now taken on the role of a cannon barrel.

“Maser Cannon!”

“Mama! You can’t! This isn’t a place for battle!! Please come to your senses already!”

The mouth on the blade tried to persuade Charlotte Linlin, but it was useless. They were merely Homies, daring only to advise her verbally while showing no hesitation in their actions.

As the charging finished, the surging energy blasted forth from Charlotte Linlin’s hands.

Boom!

The light cannon fired by Charlotte Linlin collided midair with the Blast Breath spat out by Kaido, and a tremendous shockwave swept across the surrounding seas.

Most of the people on this island possessed the ability to deal with situations like this. It was merely some scattered shockwaves, not enough to become fatal, but there were always exceptions.

“Miss Reporter, be careful. Situations like this are a little dangerous for people like you.”

“Thank you…”

After being blown away by the shockwaves, Vivi crashed into Lucky Roux’s stomach. Cushioned by that thick belly, she suffered no harm at all, while Flaming Attach steadied himself after tumbling through the air.

Having once photographed many high-bounty criminals, he already possessed fairly good skills.

“Did you see that? This is the daily life of us front-line reporters. To capture a important scene like this, the effort and price paid are anything but small.”

“Does that include President Morgans too…?”

Morgans had also been blown flying just now, and when he had been taking pictures earlier, he was even closer to Kaido and the others. Judging from the scorched black marks on his wings, he had nearly turned into a roasted bird.

“Situations like this are still pretty rare, but for the president, no matter what happens here, it’ll be big news.”

Whether it was an Emperor alliance or an Emperor battle, Morgans could freely let his pen run wild and write whatever kind of story he wanted to see. As such, Morgans did not care at all how things here would develop; he only hoped the commotion would become bigger and bigger.

On the other side, Speed also arrived beside Yamato.

“Young Miss, are you really not going to stop the Governor-General? Why do I feel like he’s getting a little too fired up…”

“You don’t understand him well enough. If he were really fired up, he wouldn’t look like this. I’m thinking about how to use this thing instead.”

Tossing the light sphere left behind by Arceus up and down, Yamato felt a strange texture from it, as though the sphere was not some intangible mass of energy, but an actual solid object.

She then knocked on it a few times, confirming the hardness and elasticity of the object in her hand.

“Since it’s a ball, I’ll just use it like one.”

After estimating the approximate positions of Kaido and Charlotte Linlin, Yamato activated her Observation Haki and assumed the posture of a pitcher preparing to throw a ball.

“From this angle… it should hit that idiot father in the head and then bounce onto Big Mom.”

Whoosh!

The moment the words fell, the light sphere in Yamato’s hand shot out. At the instant she threw it, Speed even felt as if she had been slapped by a gust of wind, and then a piercing sonic boom rang out beside her ears.

“Young Miss, are you really trying to stop the Governor-General?”

No matter how she thought about it, this behavior looked more like an attempt to provoke Kaido. Even after all these years, Speed still could not understand what exactly was going on inside her young miss’s head.

“Of course. Even if he got knocked unconscious, there are still other people on the island who can step up. Besides, this ball can’t knock him out anyway. Even if it hits him right between the eyebrows, it won’t affect him at all.

Though seriously, Dad should’ve just given me a real solid ball.”

The light sphere she threw disintegrated halfway through its flight and never hit Kaido at all, because it had been something that activated automatically from the start. Even if Yamato had done nothing, once the box was opened, it would still have activated on its own.

Bzzzt!

Everyone present seemed to hear a strange sound, and a powerful flash appeared before their eyes, yet not a single person felt any pain in their eyes, as though everything had merely been an illusion.

Morgans blinked, then hurriedly checked the photos stored in his camera. Thanks to the bizarre technology tree of this world, his camera could accomplish many outrageous feats.

Pressing the shutter had already become his survival instinct. In order to choose better photographs, he had been continuously taking pictures just now, wanting to use them to prove he hadn’t seen things.

“No, no, how is this possible? Not even a single shot captured it?”

After flipping through all the photos he had just taken, Morgans could not find any trace whatsoever of the white ball. It was as if it had never appeared at all.

It all seemed to have merely been an illusion, but the changes at the scene told Morgans that something incomprehensible had just occurred.

Because Charlotte Linlin, who had been incomparably violent just moments ago, had now quieted down, standing motionless in place as though she had fallen asleep.

“Great, Mama finally stopped.”

“But why isn’t Mama moving?”

“No idea, but I’m getting sleepy too… I’ll sleep for a while first…”

Napoleon, Zeus, and Prometheus—the three Homies—followed Charlotte Linlin into slumber one after another. Judging from their snoring, they were sleeping extremely comfortably.
