DBEPV Chapter 107 Bardock: Talot, you have grown up (Part 1)

Previous ChapterNext Chapter

After listening to North Kai’s long-winded story, both Talot and Korin showed a look of sudden realization.

One had to admit, if you heard such a story on a normal day, who could’ve imagined it?

Of course, there’s no need to dwell on it now.

At least Talot doesn’t care.

After all, given his strength, why would he need to delve deeply into these things?

Even if they were to dig up the first generation Kami, it would be of no use.

His goal was only the Ultra Divine Water. As long as that giant beast didn’t stop him or get in his way, it had nothing to do with him.

“Go ahead and take it. I’ll use my authority to notify that guardian beast. Although I don’t recommend you take the Ultra Divine Water, since you’ve already made up your mind to give it a try, then go ahead. Maybe your Saiyan constitution really is special, and the Ultra Divine Water might have a miraculous effect on you.”

North Kai’s voice sounded again.

This truly made Talot feel a deep sense of gratitude that he didn’t know how to repay.

Ever since North Kai began training him, he had taught him without reservation. North Kai had told him everything he knew to guide him forward.

In life, how many people could you meet who would truly dedicate themselves to being a mentor for your sake?

Looking back at the original work, Goku grew so quickly in part because he had so many mentors along his training path—from his grandfather Son Gohan giving him his start, to the Angel in the Super era becoming his teacher.

If you count them carefully, starting from Son Gohan, then Master Roshi, Korin, Popo, Kami, King Kai, Grand Kai, Supreme Kai, and even the God of Destruction and Angel…

If someone else had that many opportunities, even a pig could become powerful.

“Thank you.”

A heartfelt word of thanks. At that moment, the final bit of barrier Talot had in his heart toward North Kai completely disappeared.

Through all these years together, he had always kept a line he wouldn’t cross—but now he felt that there was no need to even have that line.

In other words, the kind of friendship and relationship others could only dream of, North Kai had genuinely shown to him.

Maybe, in his heart, North Kai hoped to use him to defeat Frieza and other evildoers—but so what? That kind of plan hardly mattered.

Frieza was already someone Talot intended to kill anyway.

North Kai wasn’t the type to demand payback the moment he gave something. If it had been someone else, they would probably be rushing to have Talot kill Frieza and Cooler now that he had this kind of power.

But North Kai had always been warning him, in both big matters and small ones, always thinking of his well-being. He truly, sincerely wanted to nurture him—to make him stronger.

“You little brat, go on then, go on.” North Kai seemed to sense Talot’s inner thoughts. That deliberately casual voice was also a way of covering up his emotional fluctuations.

Talot had no idea that, at this very moment, North Kai—on his planet—was weeping with tears streaming down his old face.

His relationship with Talot had already been quite close. Though it wasn’t outwardly obvious, and hard to see on the surface, the bond between teacher and disciple was real and solid.

Talot had thanked him before—sometimes even respectfully—but none of those thanks had come from the heart like this one did.

After cutting off communication with North Kai, Talot and Korin exchanged a glance.

The man and the cat remained silent for a long while, until Korin finally took the initiative to change the subject. He then led Talot to the entrance of the tunnel that led to the ice cave where the Ultra Divine Water was located.

Talot didn’t waste words either—after all, achieving his goal was what truly mattered.

After exchanging a brief remark with Korin, he allowed Korin to transport him to that forbidden place on Earth.

An endless world of ice and snow—this was deep beneath the surface.

Talot stood on an icy path, gazing into the distance. There was no trace of a living aura, and the cold enveloped his entire body. For an ordinary person who reached this place, even if they didn’t freeze to death immediately, they likely wouldn’t survive for long.

In the original work, the Ultra Divine Water had been described in a mythological manner, to the point that countless Earthlings later came to believe it was the ultimate treasure. Some even thought that just by drinking the Ultra Divine Water, one could gain the power to rule the world. As a result, many human adventurers had come here, one after another, in search of it.

After hearing North Kai’s account and combining it with his own understanding of the Ultra Divine Water, he couldn’t help but feel that the situation was rather peculiar—hiding the Ultra Divine Water to keep it out of human reach while simultaneously attracting people to venture and seek it out seemed inherently contradictory.

Of course, Talot had no intention of delving into it—because no matter what the truth was, it had nothing to do with him.

Strolling forward, Talot extended his Ki Sense outward. In no time, he locked onto a particular region deep beneath the surface.

The maze above was merely an illusionary obstacle to deter adventurers and convince them to turn back.

Who could have imagined that the Ultra Divine Water would lie deep within an abyss hundreds of meters underground?

After all, it was only by descending several hundred meters from the actual surface that one could even reach this world of ice cave.

As his Ki Sense continued to expand, Talot became curious—where exactly on Earth was this place?

Based on what he used to believe, this area likely wasn’t located on Earth at all. Instead, it probably existed in a small, independent dimension separate from the Earth itself.

His thoughts were different now—because after experiencing the demon-inhabited Devil’s Castle and its dark realm, a place that exists only in the movie world, he now believed that many of the mystical locations that appeared in the original work likely did exist on Earth. They were simply concealed by some kind of barrier, making them inaccessible through ordinary means.

Just like in the original work, there is another place on Earth—Mount Five Element! According to the information provided in the original work, one must journey west, continuously and without turning back, to reach this mountain that bridges the boundary between the living and the dead.

Talot used to think that even if such a place did exist on this real-world Earth, it would have to be in a realm separate from Earth itself.

[This ice cave… it’s actually deep beneath the south pole. I thought it was located in the far north.] Talot silently reconsidered his old assumptions.

Then, instinctively, he left a spatial marker here—just in case he needed to return someday.

This was a small habit Talot had developed over the years—always as a precaution.

Even though his Instant Transmission could teleport without locking onto auras, the margin for error was immense if there was no specific target destination.

“Hm? So it’s finally appearing?” Just as Talot was contemplating whether to directly use Instant Transmission to dive into the deeper space below, a formless force whipped up a terrifying snowstorm.

Moments later, a giant figure formed from snow and ice emerged from the storm, roaring at Talot.

If it had been a martial artist of average strength, they likely wouldn’t have been able to withstand this intimidation.

Even in the original work, both Goku and Yajirobe—who were among the strongest of their time—failed to defeat it. Though they hadn’t found a method to defeat it, it still showed how troublesome this special force was.

“If it were someone else, maybe they couldn’t sense anything unusual—but I’m no ordinary person.” As he spoke, Talot casually walked forward, letting the snowstorm whip against his body.

Temperatures dozens of degrees below freezing couldn’t get near Talot, because his aura instinctively transformed into a warm current that shielded him from the bitter cold.

Another reason was that Talot had gained the ability to survive in outer space. So even if he faced absolute zero—minus 273.15 degrees Celsius—it would be impossible to freeze him. To even partially freeze him would be nothing short of miraculous.

Provoked, the snow giant let out a furious roar, driving the snowstorm into greater fury and advanced aggressively toward him.

Talot had no interest in dealing with this situation.

He knew that this towering figure was formed by countless tiny frost worms. Though their aura was nearly undetectable, it was their collective outburst that clued Talot in.

These little worms had lived in this space for countless years, treating it as their territory. Whenever a foreign lifeform entered—especially one radiating warmth—it would trigger their survival instincts, causing them to merge together and attack the intruder until every trace of heat was extinguished.

The snow giant closed in, its massive ice fist swinging down with tremendous force.

Turning his back on it, Talot didn’t hesitate—he leapt forward into the abyss leading deeper underground, leaving the world of ice and snow behind.

With its target gone, the snow giant let out a thunderous roar, then slowly began to dissipate. The snowstorm stopped as well.

To the naked eye, the worms were invisible—each no more than one-tenth the size of an ant.
