He used the money he had acquired through special means to buy a large amount of fish-based food, and only then did he head to the top of Korin Tower to find Korin.
It had been a long time since they last met, but Korin was the same as ever, not having changed at all.
In fact, Talot had always been curious: how did these so-called immortals manage to live such long lives?
You know, even the Namekians are considered long-lived—Kami lived for several hundred years, yet still aged.
But Korin showed no signs of aging whatsoever.
It was as if he had been frozen in time, forever unchanging.
Popo, Fortuneteller Baba, Master Roshi, Crane Hermit, Mercenary Tao—in a way, they were all like that. Although most of them were clearly elderly, their lifespans didn’t lie; they were all around 300 years old. Mercenary Tao was a bit younger, but his condition was even more bizarre—he was still in his middle age.
Talot had hoped to obtain some kind of special information from Korin, but unfortunately, the only answer he got was: “Immortals naturally live long lives. Isn’t that perfectly normal?”
That single line left Talot speechless, and in the end, he had no choice but to stop asking.
Because he knew that even if he kept pressing the issue, he wouldn’t get the answer he wanted. He could only gradually peel back the veil of mystery in the future.
When it came down to it, the reason for this internal conflict was seeing Son Gohan getting older day by day.
Although in the original work, he was killed when Goku transformed into a Great Ape and stepped on him, in this timeline he had survived. But his lifespan clearly wasn’t very long—reaching a hundred was already considered old, and Son Gohan was now in the final years of his life.
His fate had been forcibly rewritten, but that didn’t mean he could continue living a long life.
If Talot truly knew how, he would hope for him to live on. After all, even though the days they’d spent together over the years hadn’t been very many, it was impossible not to form some kind of bond.
Especially with Son Gohan’s kind and gentle nature, which gave Talot the real feeling of having a grandfather.
……
He conducted a new round of trade with Korin.
Talot gave Korin all the fish, and in return, received another jar of Senzu Beans, probably containing five hundred to a thousand beans.
Gotta say, when Senzu Beans are grown with full effort—and without the original work’s Yajirobe constantly causing trouble—the yield is really high.
According to Korin, it’s now possible to cultivate Senzu Beans four times a year, and each harvest yields around two to three hundred beans—adding up to about a thousand Senzu Beans per year.
This only further solidified Talot’s determination: once the original storyline begins to unfold again, in three years he absolutely must drive that guy Yajirobe off the tower. At the very least, he must not be allowed to ruin the Senzu Beans.
In Talot’s hands, the Senzu Beans were no longer just the miraculous life-saving beans of the original work, but had proven truly effective in aiding his training.
It had been that way in the past, it was still true now, and it would be even more so in the future.
Absolutely! The era without Senzu Beans must never be allowed to come!
After securing the Senzu Beans, Talot finally brought up the matter of the Ultra Divine Water.
Taking care of the simple, trivial tasks first—that was always Talot’s way of doing things.
Upon hearing this, Korin looked puzzled and said, “You tell me, you are already so strong—why do you insist on risking your life to drink the Ultra Divine Water? I remember telling you before, the Ultra Divine Water is poisonous. Even if you have potential that could be unlocked, the poison is still extremely dangerous.”
Talot responded with a faint smile: “As a warrior, once I’ve embarked on the path of becoming stronger, I must charge forward bravely and never back down! Besides, although I may seem powerful now, in the whole universe, my strength doesn’t count for much at all. To some beings, I’m not even worthy of being called an insect.”
Korin looked at Talot, his expression unusually serious: “I understand. Since you’ve already made up your mind, even if I try to stop you, it probably won’t make any difference. But I can’t directly give you the Ultra Divine Water—you should know that. You’ll have to get it yourself. Whether you succeed or not depends on your own abilities. After all, that guy isn’t someone easy to deal with…”
“That guy? You mean the guardian of the Ultra Divine Water you mentioned last time?” Talot asked.
Korin nodded and continued, “Although I don’t know his true identity, I once heard from the previous Kami that the guardian might be Earth’s very first Kami.”
“Earth’s first Kami?” Talot was slightly shocked—this was something he had never considered.
Even in his past life, he had only thought of that figure as the guardian of the Ultra Divine Water, never imagining such an identity.
“As for that, I can actually tell you—Earth has no shortage of secrets. This might be something no one else knows, except me, North Kai, who oversees the North Area. Hehehe~~!” North Kai’s voice suddenly rang out, startling both Talot and Korin.
Especially Korin, whose white fur stood on end instantly, as if he were facing a natural predator.
“I say, dear Lord North Kai, could you not pop out so suddenly all the time? You’re going to scare someone to death,” Talot said, a little speechless.
“Hehehe~~! You’ll get used to it, you’ll get used to it. Don’t you want to know this secret?” North Kai let out a weird laugh—it was obvious he was scheming something.
Talot rolled his eyes. “I get what you mean. Next time I come, I’ll bring you some good stuff from Earth. Now can you talk?”
“At least you’ve got some decency, kid. You know what I like. Little kitty, you listen in too. After all, you’ve lived on Earth for so many years as an immortal—you’re half a god at this point. And yet you don’t even know something like this,” North Kai complained, then lectured Korin with the tone of a superior.
Korin didn’t dare talk back. He immediately bowed respectfully toward the air. “What Lord Kai says is absolutely right. I’m just a little kitty. It’s the greatest honor of my life to be able to listen.”
As his words fell, Talot glanced at Korin, then crossed his arms and leaned against the railing at the top of Korin Tower.
North Kai’s voice continued to echo down, recounting Earth’s history, going all the way back to when the Earthling had just been born.
In short, the Ultra Divine Water was a very special kind of spring water that originated naturally on Earth. One day, a very powerful Earthling drank the Ultra Divine Water and gained incredible strength, allowing him to reach a higher realm. Eventually, he became Earth’s Kami. This Kami once tried to distribute the Ultra Divine Water to other humans, but it resulted in countless deaths. Only one survived—his follower, a giant ancient beast. Fearing the Ultra Divine Water would harm even more people, the first Kami ordered the beast to guard the Ultra Divine Water indefinitely. Over time, the beast, living directly within the spring’s source, nearly merged with it, and thus, in the truest sense, became the guardian of the Ultra Divine Water.
