Muscles bulged on both arms, and a cold gleam shimmered across the scales. In his Human-Beast form, Kaido gripped the Hassaikai tightly with both hands and infused it with the Conqueror’s Haki before charging towards the Buddha-form of Sengoku.
Facing Kaido’s swinging kanabo, Sengoku crossed his arms in front of him, forming an “X” shape. His knees bent slightly, and his center of gravity began to lower.
The golden Buddha’s body flashed as a swastika symbol faintly appeared on his arms.
“Diamond Wisdom: Conceal!”
The swastika symbol began to rotate, and a barrier made of golden light materialized in front of Sengoku, blocking Kaido’s swinging kanabo in midair.
However, the tremendous force of the impact did not disappear. Instead, it pushed Sengoku back all the way, crashing through several walls before finally coming to a stop at the rear of Marineford.
This had once been a peaceful town. The residents living at the foot of Marineford rarely had to worry about pirate attacks. Monsters like Golden Lion were ultimately rare exceptions.
But now, that peace had long been shattered. Under the tremors caused by Whitebeard, many buildings had already collapsed, and stray cannonballs occasionally came raining down.
“Worororo, this golden Buddha form of yours is really blinding.”
“Kaido, this war brings you no benefit. You’re someone willing to strike deals with the World Government—why interfere in something so meaningless?”
“Meaningless? The very meaning of war is battle—how could it be meaningless?
And don’t get me wrong. From beginning to end, what I’ve loved is battle itself. Order is just someone else’s preference.
But we both despise the same kind of people. Those arrogant bastards of the World Government aren’t likable. That’s why we joined forces. Looking back, that was the smartest decision I’ve ever made.”
Seeing Sengoku block his attack, Kaido wasn’t bothered in the slightest. This was the Marine Fleet Admiral—if he couldn’t even take a single hit like that, the Marines would be far too boring.
“You lunatic…”
Fighting for the sake of fighting, intervening in war just to satisfy his own selfish desires—Kaido’s madness was something Sengoku could not comprehend.
“Call me whatever you like. I’m just here to have a good fight! Don’t even think about your execution platform. I don’t care whether Roger’s son lives or dies. If he ended up in your hands, that only proves the guy wasn’t strong enough.”
“But before I’ve had my fill, just fight me properly!”
Boom!
As Kaido’s voice fell, thunder rumbled across the sky. Above Kaido and Sengoku, dark clouds had already gathered.
“Lightning Hammered Ragnaraku!”
Lightning from within the cloud layer was drawn toward Kaido. With the swing of the Hassaikai, it came crashing down toward Sengoku below.
“Immovable Wisdom King!”
Sengoku swung his right palm up to block Kaido’s Hassaikai. A powerful aura surged skyward, even piercing through the dark clouds overhead. A ray of sunlight once again shone down upon Sengoku, making the golden Buddha body glow even more brilliantly.
“The World Government represents the order of the world. Without this order, the seas would descend into greater chaos. Without suppression, villains would only bring disaster to the world.”
Energy gathered on Sengoku’s left arm, gradually compressing into a single point of light.
“The Marines are the world’s shield. Marines who reign supreme over the seas are the embodiment of justice—Buddha’s Impact!”
Sengoku struck his left palm toward Kaido’s chest. The light burst forth at that moment, and faint traces of Conqueror’s Haki flickered across his palm.
Boom!
Kaido’s body was sent flying, crashing through several buildings before finally coming to a stop. But before the dust had even settled, a crazy laugh echoed out from within.
“Worororo! That’s more like it! A Marine with Conqueror’s Haki—I haven’t encountered one in ages! Kundali Dragon Swarm!”
Kaido returned to Sengoku’s side with even greater speed. Sengoku’s Buddha’s Impact had completely ignited the fighting spirit within him. The young Whitebeard had been a powerful opponent, but Sengoku, who hailed from the same era, was no less of a rare powerhouse.
Conqueror’s Haki, the Human-Human Fruit: Mythical Zoan: Buddha form—Sengoku, as the Marine Fleet Admiral, possessed strength worthy of his title.
“Amoghavajra: Hundred Forms!”
Leaving behind afterimages, golden Buddha palms swept out, clashing with Kaido’s kanabo—a Zoan-type melee combat erupted across the city. But amid their battle, heavy footsteps echoed through Marineford’s streets.
Ka-cha, ka-cha…
Through the curtain of rain, a figure with a slightly disproportionate build gradually approached. His purple hair was soaked by the rain, and as he looked at the destroyed town, his gaze shifted toward Kaido.
Ka-ka…
A clanging sound came from the mechanical arm on his right hand. The claw at the end had already formed into a fist. Its wielder suddenly burst forward, arriving beside Sengoku and Kaido.
Bang!
“Smash Tornado!”
At the same time, Sengoku, who was fighting Kaido, took Kaido’s Thunder Bellow Bagua head-on with his golden Buddha form, the bell-like sound reverberating across half the town.
A strange force was transmitted into Sengoku’s body from the Hassaikai, but thanks to his Buddha ability, Sengoku wasn’t significantly affected.
Taking this opportunity, Sengoku grabbed Kaido’s shoulder, restricting his ability to move.
“Now’s the time!”
Boom!
The mechanical arm blasted toward Kaido’s head. However, between the arm and Kaido, a transparent barrier suddenly emerged. That seemingly fragile shield at this moment became an uncrossable chasm—even the Seastone bullet fired from the center of the mechanical arm was blocked.
Then, a ring of green energy swirled around Kaido’s dragon tail, which lashed out as he spun around and struck Sengoku, creating distance between him and the other two once again.
Observation Haki’s advanced level—Future Sight.
Even brief glimpses into the future could massively boost one’s combat effectiveness. The enemy’s surprise attack had been within Kaido’s expectations, and the Protect he raised allowed him to effectively neutralize the danger.
After all, he is also a Devil Fruit user, and if the Seastone bullet hit him, it would be troublesome. Just because he loved fighting didn’t mean he loved taking beatings.
“I saw you coming… Former Marine Admiral—Black Arm Zephyr. You couldn’t hold back either, huh? Want to join in on this grand event?”
The newcomer was none other than the current Marine Instructor, Zephyr. Though he has stepped back from the front lines, he retained his Admiral rank. This battle, which involved all of Marineford, was supposed to be one he oversaw from the rear—but once Kaido and Sengoku’s fight reached the town, he finally made his move.
This town carried too many of his memories—his family, his students. His life had long been inseparably tied to this place. Watching Marineford being slowly destroyed, he ultimately decided to step onto the front lines and assist Sengoku in attacking Kaido.
“When you charge alone into the heart of enemy territory, you’d better be prepared to be surrounded, pirate.”
