APJ Chapter 956 Chaos in Sabaody Archipelago

Previous ChapterNext Chapter

Law was very annoyed, extremely annoyed. In his mind, he had already dissected Drake several times.

He and Lami were talking because she was possibly his biological sister. Through the conversation that followed, Law confirmed this to be true. But what was Drake doing?

Acting cool in front of his sister—what was this guy trying to pull?!

“Trafalgar, I’m not here to fight.”

“I don’t want a fight either, I just want to cut you down.”

“……”

He had evaluated his fellow Super Rookies before. Based on his analysis, Kid’s crew was the most unstable factor. Law was more scheming but relatively calm and should have been aware of the consequences of starting a fight in the Sabaody Archipelago.

Yet, when the fight broke out, Law acted more like a madman. In contrast, Kid’s side refrained from continuing fighting due to his body’s condition, only remaining on guard against the other pirates around them.

Seeing Law being so unreasonable, Drake’s temper flared up too. He wasn’t a pirate—he was an undercover agent of SWORD. He already found these pirates irritating, and if Law insisted on a fight, he didn’t mind obliging. It was the perfect opportunity to prove his worth.

Just as he was about to transform and let his future “examiner” witness his “professional credentials,” he noticed that Lami was already gone. All that remained was her departing figure, showing no concern for them at all.

From beginning to end, Lami had only been on the phone and had never even looked directly at him.

“This… isn’t how I imagined it would go…”

With the Beasts Pirates gone, there was no point in fighting anymore. He rarely contacted Marine Headquarters, but not long ago, they had sent him a message: Do not delay. Do not start a conflict in the Sabaody Archipelago. Proceed to the New World as soon as possible to seek an opportunity.

The message didn’t reveal much, but he understood—Marines were likely planning a major operation, which was why they wanted to prevent unnecessary battles.

Unfortunately, he didn’t have Red Hair’s reputation, or rather, the already-enraged Law wasn’t going to give him any face.

When even the calmest person and the mediator had joined the fight, it was inevitable that the other pirates would follow suit. Thus, an all-out brawl among the Super Rookies erupted in the Sabaody Archipelago. It wasn’t until the arrival of the Celestial Dragons that they temporarily ceased fighting and eventually went their separate ways.

Provoking a Celestial Dragon would bring down a Marine Admiral—this was no secret on the seas. Most people, even these so-called “Super Rookies,” knew better than to risk that kind of trouble.

“Uncle Tiger, sorry about that. Something came up just now. You can continue.”

“Yeah, just like I mentioned before, something happened on Fishman Island. A Merfolk might be in trouble.”

“Olga’s Rotom is turned off, and I don’t have her Den Den Mushi’s number, so I can’t contact her.”

“Based on the schedule, she should be meeting up with you soon. When that happens, have her lend a hand.”

Rotom Phone has a power off function. Unless it’s a communication from the highest authority—Arceus—who can forcibly wake up a powered-down Rotom, no one else can contact a person whose phone is off.

From a working person’s perspective, this design is rather inhumane. However, except in extremely special circumstances, this authority has never been used. Arceus has no intention of waking people up at 3 AM for overtime.

“Got it. There are still two hours until the meeting time. I’ll let Big Sis Olga know then.”

“Big Sis” and “Sister” don’t mean the same thing. In the world of pirates, “Big Sis” is more of a status title, while “Sister” conveys a closer personal bond. Due to Olga’s age and appearance, the seniority rankings within the Beasts Pirates have always been a mess.

But pirates don’t really care about this issue. When the difference in strength is obvious and there’s no close personal relationship, even if someone is old enough to be a grandfather, they still have to call the other person “Big Bro.”

When Lami returned to the ship, Olga had already arrived at the meeting point ahead of time. She was lounging casually in a rocking chair, and as she often said, at over 200 years old, it was only reasonable for her to take it easy.

Unlike other pirates who had to keep an eye on their ships, Olga’s Shadow Fox Ship was boldly docked at a commercial port. However, no one around seemed to notice it at all. Under the influence of an illusion, this place no longer appeared as a port in their perception.

“Big Sis Olga, Sister Isuka.”

“You’re back? I heard you had some fun with those rookies?”

“They’re all a bunch of weirdos—none of them seem normal.

Oh, right, Big Sis Olga, Uncle Tiger just sent me a message. A Merfolk has gone missing here, and he wants you to help find them. I’ve already sent the details to your phone—can you take a look.”

Lami repeated Tiger’s words and reminded Olga to check her inbox.

“Tiger? Why didn’t he just contact me directly?”

Hearing this, Olga called over Elizabeth, who started rummaging through the backpack on her back.

“Your phone was off, so he couldn’t reach you…”

“Oh, I turned off my phone back when I was with Hancock. No wonder I felt like something was lacking these days.”

As Olga’s Rotom Phone powered back on, the Rotom residing inside let out a yawn and greeted her. When its host device is turned off, Rotom sometimes chooses to go into hibernation. This was the reason Tiger had been unable to contact Olga.

“Oh, so the Mermaid went missing while following that starfish? After all these years, how is she still so careless? I remember her name was Camie, right? That ditzy personality of hers still hasn’t changed.”

Fishman Island today was different from the past. Under the strong efforts of Tiger and Jinbe, cases of missing persons on Fishman Island had nearly disappeared.

Using Tiger’s prestige, the delinquent Fish-Men from the Fish-Man District had been organized into a special security force. Aside from the mining work for the mining company, they also patrolled to ensure Fishman Island’s safety.

But Fishman Island was not a prison. Neither Otohime nor Neptune had any intention of confining their citizens within the island. Both Merfolk and Fish-Men were free to leave if they wished.

Camie hadn’t intentionally gone anywhere dangerous. Fishman Island’s safety education was quite thorough, and both New Fishman Island and Mandrell’s territory were safe tourist destinations. There was no real need for her to risk going to the Sabaody Archipelago.

But she was always a bit scatterbrained, often ending up swallowed by sea beasts if she wasn’t careful. Ending up here was just another coincidence.

The changes on Fishman Island had caused the price of Merfolk to skyrocket. Human traffickers, eager to capture any Merfolk they could find, naturally wouldn’t pass up such an opportunity.

Along with her, Pappag had also been swallowed—a rather remarkable starfish. Convinced that he was human, he had unconsciously learned to speak and even possessed intelligence comparable to a person.

Because of his involvement in designing clothing for the Arceus Cult, Pappag had Tiger’s contact information, which allowed him to indirectly reach Olga.

“Big Sis Olga, where should we start looking for her?”

“Human Auctioning House, of course—if something happened to her, she’d definitely end up there.”
